"We Demand" group wins award, $10K

An organization named for founding father Sam Adams has awarded the "We Demand Coalition" -- comprised of WeDemandAVote.com and WeDemandABetterPlan.com -- with a top award, a big-headed statue and $10,000 and, of course, the prestige.

All for the groups' work in getting the jail tax on the ballot and then successfully campaigning for its defeat.

The $10,000 award is nearly twice what the groups spent to defeat the tax.

The group accepts the award Thursday.

Read the press release here.
Here's the organization's Web site.

Next month COAST will give the Chicago group an award --lolol --- didn't we just figure this out with DeWhine's last "award" in some obscure magazine that highlighted his great fiscal policies that drained our county reserves and lowered the county's credit rating thereby invoking a "stupidity tax" on all county residents?

I was going to post something along the same lines. At the very least, they should donate it to the county to help cover the budget deficit.

Yes, where is the plan? In fact, where is the $6 million to keep sending inmates to Butler County in 2008. What a show DeWine put on cut the 2007 budget to find money to keep Butler County through the end of 2007...then silence on continuing it into 2008. According to the cheif of this gaggle of goofs the county can fund this "basic" county function in the general fund. Where are the budget cuts to keep Butler County, where are the cuts to keep the OTR patrols, where are the cuts to build a new jail, where are the cuts to renovate Queensgate? Hey Jason, show us your brillance. Tofu has more substance...and integrity!

I agree with 11:55 AM, $10,000 could fund Butler County for about four hours and the fuel to get the inmates up there.

Why should they cover a deficit that was of the county's own making? I thought the super sized jail tax was supposed to be about public safety? I think we're realizing otherwise.

That's only 20% of what David Pepper's mammy donated to the pro-tax campaign.
