Did we miss a Council election?
Charlie Winburn's acting like he's already got the job. The Republican City Council candidate worked council chambers Wednesday as if he belonged there.
He was passing out his latest anti-crime idea, a way to curb copper theft. It was a copy of Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman's proposal to force scrap metal yards to get photos and possibly finger prints from anyone who sells to them.
In an enclosed letter to Mark Mallory, Winburn writes that he is "kindly requesting" that the mayor direct the city solicitor to write a similar ordinance, convene public hearings on the issue and get five votes to pass it.
As for acting as if he's already won, Winburn says: "You have to act like it to get it."

Sorry Charlie, you're about two weeks too late. Councilman Cecil Thomas presented a motion for the administration to explore the feasibility of Cincinnati developing a similar copper theft ordinance as Columbus. Thanks any way.
Yeah several! Your election coverage is pathetic! You only care about profits and not issues and democracy. Keep up it upand you're done!
"....you're about two weeks too late. Councilman Cecil Thomas presented a motion for..."
"Starkist", the typical wRong wingnut whacko taking the ideas of others and attempting to make it their own !
PATHETIC !
HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !
I think the biggest do-nothing council in history needs Winburn. At least he tries to do things that help the city...and not embarrass us on national tv!
Typical wRong wingnut whacko, slinging the elephant dung HTML impersonation !
When the wRong wingnut "followers" have no ideas of their own, they just assume the ideas of "LEADERS" !
Thanks for playing follow the "LEADER" !
lol, lol, lol
PATHETIC !
Why do you call this "his latest anti-crime idea"? This is a co opted Democratic idea that was the work of a Democratic Mayor in Columbus, and has already been acted on by a Democratic member of Cincinnati City Council. Is Rev. Chuck simply going to continue this practice if elected? If so, we should make sure we don't vote for him, yet again. We need leaders in this city. Not followers simply thirsty for free publicity from the local Republican newsletter that is the Enquirer.
Before any of you get back on council your past voting records will be exposed to all....whether you voted against the rights of Gay human beings who work live breath and bleed in this city or whether you voted against the RIGHTS OF GAY CITIZENS TO BE ABLE TO HOLD A JOB TO SUPPORT THEMSELF AND ENJOY THE RIGHT TO BE FREE FROM DISCRIMINATION. THOSE OF YOU WHO FLIPFLOPPED IN THE PAST WILL BE EXPOSED AS WELL...AND BY THAT I MEAN PEOPLE WHO PROMISED TO SUPPORT GAYS ONLY TO CHANGE THEIR VOTE BECAUSE IT WAS "EASIER"...ONE OF THE ONES WHO PULLED THAT NOISE WAS OUR OUTGOING "MR. CINCINNATI"...AND ANOTHER PAST MEMBER ALSO FLEW THE "COOP" ON US AS WELL...WELL GUESS WHAT FOLKS? JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE A SECURE HUMAN RIGHTS ORDINANCE NOW DOESN'T MEAN I OR OTHERS WILL TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED! GAME ON!!!! I HAVE A LOT OF ENERGY AND A LOT OF TIME TO TALK TO FOLKS...WELCOME BACK R..CAREFUL THERE CW AND BEST OF LUCK JJ...S&M..YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME MAN...YOU SUED CINCY OVER INCLUDING GAYBASHING...C'MON NOW MAN! I'VE DECIDED THIS NEXT COUNCIL NEEDS TO BE LEAN TIGHT AND FOCUSED...CUT THE FAT..AND BY FAT I MEAN "WAFFLES" ARE NOW TOTALLY OFF MY DIET! CINCINNATI BELONGS TO ALL OF US AND I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THOSE OF YOU WHO CAN'T KEEP IT REAL....SLEEP TIGHT WITH YOUR DREAMS OF VICTORY...NOVEMBER IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK!
