Another Painter in office?

Housing redeveloper Mitch Painter, nephew of Ohio 1st District Court of Appeals Judge Mark Painter, announces by e-mail today that he's an independent candidate for Cincinnati City Council.

Here's what he says about himself:

"I feel that it is time young people step up to the plate to push our city forward. My uncle, the honorable Judge Mark Painter, has laid the framework for our family having the political courage to do what's right. I am the next generation of great leadership that represents that political courage, the time is now.

I have rehabbed houses throughout our inner city neighborhoods and grew up downtown. I believe any city is as good as it's core. I plan to create an action oriented team uniting all groups of people. I am running as an independent to demonstrate this deeply rooted intention of mine. It's time that we stop drawing lines in the sand. The retention of our young people in the city is such a huge part of our growth. We need to send the message that Cincinnati is an amazing place to live for young people. Making Cincinnati a "green" city is a big part of this message. I am also a young developer building all green new buildings."

Painter and his twin brother, Matt, own Keystone Properties & Investments. They've bought, rehabbed and sold more than 100 properties. They also own about 120 apartment units in Clifton and Hyde Park. They're also proposing a $12 million, 44-unit condo tower in Columbia Tusculum, with construction to start in the fall.

Ha ha ha. Same name as a Repugnicant judge. Same Repugnicant judge who has seen the light and endorsed Dems lately. But the Gang Of Pedophiles still needs him because they don't want to back any more losers than their right-wing politics of hate campaign has sown.

All this guy does is dilute the votes of the brainwashed bumpkins who still, after all the crimes and failures they've committed, still vote for the right-wing nutjob Repugnicants. I never would have thought we had so many inbred sister-kissing whackjobs in this city.

Wow! This city needs more young people that are willing to have the courage to step up. Good for him. Seems most people only want to criticize instead of taking action. Very few are actually willing to lead.

I am responding to the anonymous comments made on April 3rd. How sad an individaul must be to not be able to own up to such harsh comments by revealing his/her idenity. I grew up with Mr. Painter and I think his ideas would be a welcome change. As a young professional myself,I feel that our city does need to entice young patrons to stay and enjoy what the city has to offer; including the oppurtunities to enhance its possibilities.

Mitch Painter represents change and new ideas. I've heard him say before on the issue of the environment, "Im tired of people talking but not getting things done." If you ask me this is what the fine city of Cincinnati needs, a "Go getter." He has already fixed up over 100 properties in the Cincinnati area with plans to spur much needed development if elected. We need a younger politician on city council. An independent thinker. Mitch would bring great ideas to the table.
I've heard people say that the reason they decided to move across the bridge and live in Northern Kentucky was to avoid crime and the problems in Cincinnati. We need to change this neg. image of a beautiful city and I think Mitch is the person to do it!

I've had this man as a landlord. He let all of us live throughout the winter without ANY heat in our housing. Mind you, we were all college students with no money...He never returned calls, and lied about what he said he would fix. A good man for our young people and our community? I think not. This man is a money grubbing, horrible excuse for a human being. Lets see how long it takes before this comment gets erased.

I could get a group of at least 25 young students or professionals that could say how horribly Mitch Painter has treated them during their lease at one of his "renovations." God help us all if he gets into office.

Its obvious these past 2 comments were left by the same person. Im not sure what your talking about but that sounds nothing like Mitch. He would never leave someone cold in the winter. You Republicans need to quit making up lies about good people. A college student with no money alreay has financial troubles, why rent a nice apartment from Mitch. I've seen his properties and they are quite nice. Good Luck Mitch, you deserve to serve on the council.

I know Mitch personally and I can tell you he treats all people equally and with respect. Comments that he is a terrible landlord are complete absurd. He was my landlord in Clifton for years and took care of everything he said he would and then some...

Good Luck Mitch!

I have to concur with what the other college students have said. Whether by conscious neglect or simply not being involved with any of his rental properties, Mitch Painter is nevertheless a slum lord. His idea of renovation is purely cosmetic--a fresh coat of paint on walls that are falling down, etc. It's obvious that his company has carried with it their "flip this house" mentality over to their rental properties, and we tenants are suffering because of it. What's more, when you contact them to complain, they simply ignore you. But what do you expect from a rental company that doesn't even provide its tenants with a PHYSICAL ADDRESS? I would never, ever vote for this man.
