COAST challenges spending of hotel/motel tax

COAST members Thomas Brinkman and Mark Miller are sending a letter to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters and Cincinnati Solicitor Rita McNeil claiming that the way the city and county want to spend the Hotel/Motel tax is illegal.

Lets see. The hotel tax is ahead of estimates because the new convention center expansion is bring business to Cincinnati and the hotels are filling up. I know, bring business and out of town tax revenues to Hamilton County and Cincinnati is something that Brinkman and COAST just don't understand. But isn't it Brinkman who wants to re-direct these money making, out of town dollars to the new jail that taxpayers recently voted down.

Sweetheart, this story is weeks late - what, did someone tell you to make a free advertisement on behalf of COAST?

Nice.

The reality is this is a non-issue , non-story - their claims are without ANY merit whatsoever and merely an attempt to try the issue in the media since it won't stand up it court.

Did anyone see Dan Hurley this weekend? The film commission has clear, identifiable and irrefutable connections to travel and tourism - taxpayers are getting an exponential return on the investment of their public dollars - whoops, I mean a great return on the investment of non-county resident's dollars - since it's their money being used to promote even more business.

Jessica - protest these types of assignments by Weiser to his boss - it is illegal to use his position to promote an alliance with COAST via this paper.

If Joe Deters had any guts, he would invite Brinkman in for a conference and then arrest him for elections fraud!

Under the law that DeWhiner/ COAST/Finney the Fink intend to sue, it provides that any money the county spends in defense of this frivilous claim must be paid by the Plaintiffs (COAST). So when the case gets dismissed with prejudice, COAST will be making it's first fiscal contribution to the community - and sealing it's fate as a laughing stock organization of bitter, rich cry babies who care nothing about Hamilton County while living on the most outer edges of its jurisdiction. (for the most part)

Good job to COAST for looking out for our tax dollars. It's nice to see someone doing this, since we sure can't rely on most Democrats and a majority of Republicans to watch our money.

COAST COSTS taxpayers' money, not saves it. Their efforts have done nothing in the last few years but take money from taxpayers who benefit from the expenditures - to putting that money in their own pockets.

COAST COSTS - COAST COSTS - COAST COSTS - COAST COSTS ALL OF US!

The biggest waste is our tax dollars going to Brinkman's paycheck. Over the last six years Brinkman has done nothing. He has been rated as Ohio's most ineffective legislator. Yet we continue to pay him. Its time to get rid of Brinkman and COAST.
