Southwestern Ohio fares well in House posts

House Speaker Jon Husted, a Republican from Kettering, announced new committee assignments today, and southwestern Ohio fared pretty well.

State Rep. Louis Blessing of Colerain Township will chair the Judiciary Committee and State Rep. Tom Brinkman of Mount Lookout will chair Commerce & Labor.

State Rep. Shawn Webster of Hamilton will chair the Higher Education Finance Subcommittee

Chairing a new committee on Healthcare Access & Affordability is state Rep. Jim Raussen of Springdale.

State Reps. Bill Seitz of Green Township and Michelle Schneider of Madeira previously were named to leadership posts by Husted, as majority whip and assistant majority whip, respectively.

What's Dale Mallory doing other than driving around town in his new car?

He's already missed one Court date in Hamilton County. Let's see if he misses the next one!

What will happen to Brinkman's chairmanship when Joe Deters finds him guilty of voter fraud. I wonder if Husted knows that there is an ongoing investigation involving Brinkman altering signatures and addresses on voter petitions. Looks like politics as usual in Columbus.

WE ARE STILL WAITING: STATE REPRESENTATIVE TOM BRINKMAN UNDER INVESTIGATION

We are still waiting for the Hamilton County Prosecutors Office to announce the results of its investigation. State Representative Tom Brinkman was paid $40,000 to gather signatures, hid his role from the public for weeks, and is now refusing to answer questions because a criminal investigation is underway. He and his allies at CCV are still failing to acknowledge the full extent of the fraud: Over 1,000 voters had their addresses changed on the petitions after they were signed. Brinkman and CCV are attempting to blame a few day laborers for what is clearly a much larger scandal.

I see the sleaze is out in full force. Back up your allegations or quit whining.

Jeff, No sleaze, just the facts.
"Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters wouldn’t also comment on COAST because his office is investigating allegations of forgery involving signatures on an anti-gay rights initiative pushed by COAST" Cincinnati Enquirer

Jon Craig- the post headline bears no relation to the body. It seems to be contradictory.
Please explain just how SW Ohio can be said to "fare well", when all of the people mentiond are Republicans? I know how the appointments are made, but really!
Last time I looked, the Republican Party is the one most responsible for the current sad condition of our state.
As a region and state, we can only "fare well" when we can say "farewell" to this bunch.

Add Tom Brinkman, arch-moralist, to the long list of Repugnicants headed to jail. Hey, didn't his wife do time too?

The best part is, that he is being done in by a fellow Repugnicant!

Anonymous 3:21, you didn't not back up your allegations about Tom Brinkman. You cited a quote that says a petition drive was investigated. There was nothing in the quote that said Tom Brinkman is being investigated for anything. You need to check your sources before making any further sleazy allegations.

What will happen to Brinkman's chairmanship when Joe Deters finds him guilty of voter fraud.

Anon 9:54, you do realize that the prosecutor cannot find anyone guilty, right? I mean, for all the political junkies hanging out on this blog, many must have slept through all of their civics and political science courses. Here in America, we also have judges and juries who have a say in the matter as well.

Deters is the prosecutor, not the judge and jury. Deters, who has long had a vendetta against Brinkman since he beat Deters' hand-picked choice for state rep in the 2000 primary, can investigate Brinkman from now until pretty much forever even if there is no smoking gun.

Brinkman- or, really, anyone-- can be investigated by a prosecutor or law enforcement official at any time for any reason of suspicion. At this point in time, Brinkman has not even been charged.

Since Brinkman and Deters are both considering challenging Jean Schmidt in the 2008 GOP primary, you can pretty well bet that he will keep this investigation open as long as possible. Unless he actually finds something, that is. Then he will file charges.

I had always heard that Brinkman and COAST were planning on taking out Republicans where they might find them. Fratricide is Fun for COAST

Anon 8:20 AM (AKA Scott Gehring),

When will the Blue Chip RINOS be releasing the list of conservative Republicans you plan on trying to take out via intra-party smear campaigns and anonymous (illegal) mailings, or have you not had a chance to go over that with Leslie yet?

Deters cannot stand Brinkman because Brinkman beat Deter's hand-picked candidate (Steve Butt-Boy Adams) for state rep. So if he could get Brinkman he would, but since these charges are a bunch of horse manure, and Deters knows it, he not going to pursue Brinkman. Brinkman is innocent and the only Cincinnati area state rep who is honest. Someone is always trying to take down the honest politicians because they make the rest of the crooks be it DemocRAT or Republican, look bad.
