Driehaus lauded by statewide Elections group

The Ohio Association of Election Officials today named state Rep. Steve Driehaus as Democratic Legislator of the Year. The association said it chose Driehaus because of his role shaping House Bill 3, which reformed Ohio’s election procedures.

House Bill 3 brought Ohio into compliance with the federal Help America Vote Act. During legislative hearings and debate, Driehaus, D-Price Hill, worked to ensure accessibility at the polls, accurate vote counts and the procedure that allows for "no fault" absentee voting. No fault voting allows any voter to cast an absentee ballot prior to the election without providing a reason to the Board of Elections.

Steve Driehaus is the best Cincinnati has to offer! He needs to be Ohio's next Congressman from the First District.

When Clancy, Blessing and other too conservative representatives won't answer the pleas of citizens or can't relate to the problems of the common folk, - voters all over the area have to turn to Driehaus to get answers and actions.

Driehaus has been on-call for years across southwest Ohio for many more citizens than those in his district.

I have traced the IP addresses of all the anonymous comments above. They all seem to be originating from the Free Wifi at the Front Porch Coffeehouse in Price Hill.

If Driehaus weren't anti-gay, maybe more of us Democrats could support him.

He endorsed the repeal of Article 12 and I know he openly opposed the constitutional ban on gay marriage because of the sweeping language of the amendment. How does that translate into anti-gay?

He's the Minority Whip...I guess he's a good enough Democrat for his colleagues.

Seelbach needs to stop bashing the Democrats if he wants to maintain a position within the Party.

Driehaus is a terrific public servant, and NOT homophobic. He's pro-life but so are other good Dems locally and nationwide. I'm strongly pro-choice but hold Steve in high esteem. He definitely could win the First District, and in that district you'd better be a pro-life candidate to win.

Driehaus actively supported DOMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, so that doesn't make him that pro-gay.

Representative Driehaus is a terrific representative for his district and Ohio. We will always have times of disagreement with representative leadership here and there but Steve Driehaus is outstanding-and a good man-and a top Democrat.
