Message to Republicans: Hang tight, keep drinking
Franklin County Republican Party Chairman Doug Preisse just got up on stage and welcomed everyone to the GOP campaign night party in Columbus, apologizing that they don’t yet have any results to share.
“We in Ohio have gotten used to it,” he joked. “Yes, once again it was Cleveland.”
Poll problems in Cuyahoga County led Democrats to file a lawsuit to keep the polls open there until 9 p.m., meaning that election results won’t be rolling in until about that time.
“We invite you to bear with us tonight,” Preisse said. “We certainly appreciate you here. We invite you to have a drink and enjoy some Republican camaraderie with your friends.”
He said he’d let the crowd know when they have results.
GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell and Republican Sen. Mike DeWine are expected to show up at this party, along with other statewide candidates, including Hamilton County's Gregg Hartmann, who's running for Secretary of State.
