Blackwell news met with groans

LuAnn Justman and her 12-year-old son Stetson were among the first at the GOP election night party to hear that Republican Ken Blackwell just conceded the governor's race to Democrat Ted Strickland.

"I knew what the polls were saying, but you still got to hope," Justman said, after several rounds of throwing her hands down and saying, "Nooooo, nooooo."

She and her son, wearing red OSU garb head to tow with Blackwell stickers affixed across their arms and back, stood next to the giant Blackwell sign, which they had just held up in the cold today for two hours. She had taken her three kids out of school today and yesterday to help hand out fliers on Blackwell's behalf.

"We spent so much time, so much energy..." she started. "I'm just kind of broken hearted, praying and hoping that Blackwell would win."

Let's hope with John Conyers at the helm of the Dem House Judiciary that Blackwell is held responsible for his actions in '04.

We need to watch the SOS & AG race very closely. These are powerful positions that are important that will be very tempting for Blackwell to deliver-thus winning him some cushy job with the bush administration. The GOP SOS candidate is a recent TX transplant with ties to Bush. Could be a strategy for '08 when the gap was just to unbelievable in the Gov & Senate races.
