Who endorses Dumas? She won't say

Stephanie Dumas wants everyone to know that she is going to win the May 2 Democratic primary for the race for the seat now held by Republican Phil Heimlich.

She just doesn't want them to know who is backing her.

Despite five attempts by the Enquirer to get Dumas to reveal who has endorsed her, she refuses.

"I'm in this race through November and I don't have to reveal my endorsements until it's politically appropriate. I've never done anything piece by piece. There's no timeline when endorsements need to be announced," Dumas noted in an e-mail to The Enquirer.

Campaign finance reports released last Thursday, show Dumas has raised $961 in cash from supporters and $1,000 in in-kind contributions.

Her opponent, David Pepper, who has a list of those who have endorsed him on his web site, has recieved $72,505 in cash contributions. Heimlich has received $344,476 from contributors.

Could it because NO ONE endorses her?

That's pretty weird. I think it's politically appropriate to reveal them before the primary.

Perhaps she also has been endorsed by Congressman Tancredo and Steve Chabot?

From her disclosure statement, it looks like the only endorsers are relatives and one former judge. She runs an invisible campaign and then gripes that the media doesn't cover her.

I tried posting some versin of this earlier -- but it looks like I got missed.

Invisible campaign? Looks like Dumas finally found a way to be noticed by someone on The Enquirer staff!

Where was Kimbell Perry during the Oakley Democratic Forum? What's with the slanted reports, changing the intent of Dumas' statements -- or even predicting the future with headlines like "Pepper to challenge Heimlich"?

No wonder the funds haven't come her way!

Stephanie Dumas is an honest politician, something Hamilton County needs, for a change.

Transparency is part of honesty--but she won't even say who endorses her? Plus, the mail piece I received tells voters she is "your Democratic candidate" for County Commission. Voters will assume that means she's the party's endorsed candidate.

Dumas is pretty dishonest. She wasn't honest two years ago when she told the Party she would run for county commissioner. She wasn't honest this year when she told the Party she wouldn't run for state rep. because of her job. She wasn't honest to the Party Executive Committee when she told them "a miscommunication" kept her from interviewing with the nominating committee. Looks like dishonesty is Dumas's default position.

It would seem obvious that she's not revealing her endorsements because she doesn't have any. That's life as a black woman running against the white-backed candidate in a white man's party. Just Add Salt!

Endorsements aren't worth a crap, democratic party isn't worth a crap and republican party isn't worth a crap.

Vote based on your research of the candidates as politicians and everyday people.

After doing the homework I'd take Dumas over Pepper any day.

Again endorsements don't count for much...Remember the Mayor's race and the importance placed on endorsements.

Wow, You finally covered her. Yeah it's in a slanted and biased way, but that's all we expect out of this Republican rag.
