Any Politics Extra readers know about this?

A Cincinnati woman called the newsroom to say she received a really distasteful call from an anti-gay group.

She described the message as "really unpleasant" and hateful and delivered by a refined-sounding woman.

She said the group said people could call to help prevent the spread of gay marriage by calling 866-266-6277.

That toll free number comes back as "not in service."

Can't be Schmidt's campaign because Jean Schmidt supports homosexual rights. Sounds fishy to me.

An anti-gay group?
In Cincinnati?
You don't say!
Duh...it's CCV. Do some of that newfangled reportin' and give 'em a call. I'm sure they'd be proud to attach their name to a skeevy anonymous call strategy.

Anybody else notice that Callinan's blog has been completely disappeared?

http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/editor/

And the "Letters from the Editor" link has been removed from the Enquirer blogs sidebar.

More good news, proles. The chocolate ration has been increased!

The homophobic petition workers working the line at the Ravioli Dinner at Sacred Heart told me Tom Brinkman signed his check. He used the example of landlords not having to rent to people who own dogs as an example of why landlords should not have to rent to gays. My dog chewed the woodwork, ate the lineoleum and pissed on the floor. Some comparison.

If your religion has an objection to homosexuals committing sexual acts or living together, then you should not have to rent your property to those who would violate your religious beliefs and your religious rights.

Heterophobes aren't the only people with special rights. People of Faith have rights too.

"anonymous", let me tell you about a little something called "the marketplace". (The Republicans you vote for like it a lot.)

Don't like the gay couple next door? Afraid some of their hellfire will catch you on fire?

Move the f*** out. It's got nothing to do with what you perceive as your rights, it's about NOT denying basic rights to anyone. Chances are gay neighbors wouldn't like you either, but at least they'd tolerate you.

Welcome to America. There's no right, no law that protects you from getting "offended". As you have just demonstrated, you can be offensive in this country just as much as you can be offended.

I also got a call from this 866-266-6277 spreading hate messages (3rd time now). It looks like a Dover Flag organization making the calls. Make sure you send in a compaint to the Do not call site:

My company is Dover Flag & Map. My toll free number USED TO BE 866-266-6277. I received hundreds of calls from angry people who wanted me to stop calling them. The company calling is actually United American Technologies of Oklahoma City, OK. They call themselves a "Christian Long Distance Company" and they run the "National Campaign to Stop Same Sex Marriage". Their REAL number is 877-266-6277. After trying to get them to stop using our number, we changed our toll-free number. People should complain to the Federal Trade Commission 877-382-4357, making sure to give the correct toll free with 877 prefix.

I received one of these disgusting phone calls today, from that same 866-266-6277 number. The call began with a refined-sounding woman informing me that her group was attempting to "stop the horrors of child pornography." however, she then stated that the first way to deal with child pornography was to "rid the world of same sex marriage." the message was hideously misinformed and uneducated from then on. I can't believe someone would use child pornography as a way to sway people into fighting against gay marriage! The two have nothing to do with one another! It’s dirty and offensive, and definitely needs to be shut down. There's a difference between voicing your opinion and openly lying to get what you want.

March 12, 2007, I received this same call and this is not the first time. The message is the same "stop same sex marriages." I called the number retrieved by caller i.d number and it was a number not in service. The number left on my answering machine was as others pointed out...877-266-6277. Their mail box was full all a.m. Then I called around 1 p.m and a woman answered. I asked the name of her organization and was told "NCSP"...a national organization to prevent child pornography. I told her I wanted my phone number removed from their list. She asked my number and said she would tell "them."
You need to be registered with the donotcall.gov for at least 31 days in order to file a complaint and it is only good for 5 yrs. I re-registered since I do not know if the 5 yrs. has expired. I Also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Center (on-line) and my complaint was accepted.

these people are relentless with their calls. The calls I get a recordings saying to press one if you think a child being molested is wrong or such. My dad dealt with these assholes before. They call and call no matter what and you have these damn annoying messages at all hours. He tried to talk to these people about it, but they would hang up or try and badger him. Now they're calling me. Oh no... They have crossed into a different sector when they call me. I'm so goddamn sick of telephone MOLESTERS.
