Anthony Munoz is the poster boy for the local branch of International Association of Character Cities, http://www.charactercincinnati.org/munozmessage.html. As has been widely reported in the mainstream press, the "Character Cities" movement is a front for the Bill Gothard evangelical cult. When he was on council, Phil Heimlich established the Cincinnati chapter which has been "charater training" the Cincinnati Police and Fire departments.

In October 2005, Commissioner Heimlich was keynote speaker at the national "Character Cities" conference in Oklahoma City, where he have a shout-out to Bill Gothard as reported in a recent In These Times cover story, "The Cult of Character." http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/print/2450/

Who was keynote speaker at the "Character Cities" convention the year before Heimlich? Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, whose website hosts the "Ohio Center for Civic Character"http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/initiatives/occc.aspx a project managed by Assistant Secretary of State Monty Lobb, the founder of Citizens for Community Values.

For more information, read the Cincinnati Beacon's coverage, which has been reporting this developing story.http://www.cincinnatibeacon.com/index.php/search/results/7c148ac684bc53d83c56d43342c56654/

Go ahead, I dare Jean Schmidt's schmucks to make bashing Anthony Munoz a centerpiece of their campaign. Do it.

Actually Jeff its more fun to have you as the centerpiece. You must be the idiot McEwen uses as a campaign consultant. No wonder he gets into trouble every day. Next you will try to blame the Monday night Tuesday morning snow storm on Schmidt. I dare you, Do IT!

Yesterday the Cleveland Plain Dealer published this expose on Blackwell's "Character" program.

When are the Enquirer, Post, or other local major media going to report the local Heimlich-Munoz-Gothard "Character Cult" story?

The Plain Dealer always gets one up on the local fishwrap.

This is political propaganda on the taxpayer dime.

Why would he be using his office to promote a private foundation ?

I hope someone files a complaint with the elections commission.

I sure wish someone would post those documents that were received in the mail on the web.

Someone would be glad to file a complaint, lol !

Isn't McEwen part of this cult? The Beacon needs to get more information to the public about this cult movement.

This isn't directly related to this post, but the Economist has a survey on Chicago, and how it has survived while all other cities in the region are declining - especially their downtowns. (I'm looking at Cincinnati.)

You have to pay to read all of it online, so let's home someone in Council or in the Commissioners' offices subscribes to the Economist.

I heard that Leslie Ghiz and the Log Cabin Republicans were holding a fund raiser for Schmidt soon. Does anyone have information about this?

Blackwell-Gothard just showed up on Buckeye State Blog.

Kimball, Howard, Maria: Why not call Blackwell and Monty Lobb and ask about their relationships with Gothard? Why not try and get a copy of the speech Blackwell gave at the 2004 "Character Cities" convention?

As far as Anthony Munoz being the emcee of an event goes, all I have to say is that I am glad he is getting involved in the political process. Sure, he's supporting the wrong candidate, but good for him for being in the process.

Despite the crummy weather, the crowd at the McEwen fund-raiser filled the room. I counted 12 tables, many of which were completely full. Capacity was 96 so I am guessing 80-85 people. This was really good for a breakfast fund-raiser, esp. on such a crappy day.

Out of touch, know nothing, colon:

You need to research your comments before posting your ignorance.

Munoz is a tad bit more involved than your intellect permits to absorb !
