A road he shouldn't have traveled?

As he was pressing Hamilton County commissioners today to approve the proposed widening of East Kemper Road, Engineer Bill Brayshaw became upset at what he apparently perceived as lack of support from commissioners.

Brayshaw's office proposed widening the Symmes Township road from 9 to 11 or 12 feet to provide shoulders and improve drainage.

Bryahsaw said the road needs to be improved as noted by the 49 crashes -- and one fatality -- in that stretch since 1994, calling it "one of the most substandard roads in the county."

Commissioner Phil Heimlich asked Brayshaw to quantify those 49 wrecks -- was that number high or low compared to other similar roads?

That's when Brayshaw - who already had sat through several citizens complaining that the proposed widening wasn't wanted by residents - told the commissioners that "the silent majority" of residents did want the improvement.

And he suggested that silent majority would make itself heard on Election Day were the project rejected.

Brayshaw also mentioned that were the project rejected and a crash took place that resulted in a lawsuit, he, as the county engineer, could be forced to testify against commissioners.

Those comments were attacked by commissioners.

Saying Brayshaw was "well respected," Heimlich told Brayshaw "Your comments I don't think is a very, in all honesty, a very professional way in dealing with this issue."

Heimlich suggested Brayshaw stick to engineering "instead of suggesting we will pay a price if we don't support this issue."

Commissioner Pat DeWine also was put off by Brayshaw's comments.

"Some of these clumsy threats, frankly, aren't helpful and are offensive. Very offensive," DeWine said.

DeWine and Heimlich voted to proceed with the project. Commissioner Todd Portune voted against it.

After the meeting Brayshaw apologized.

Phils days are numbered at the county. Stephanie Dumas is going to beat Pepper and Hiemlich. Just look at her resume.

• 12 years of Governmental experience which included 6 years as the Mayor and Presiding Judge of Forest Park
• 30 Years as a Mental Health Professional and Advocate for Children
• Graduate of the University of Cincinnati
• State of Ohio Licensed Social Worker
• Federal Head Start Peer Reviewer
• Member of S.O.A.R Development Board
• Liaison to OKI Regional Council of Governments, Hamilton County Municipal League and Ohio Municipal League

It's too bad the Enquirer is too biased to cover her because she's a black women. Shame on you!

Stephanie Dumas is a manager. She has an impressive resume but what that doesn't indicate is that she has served the public for over thirty years and accomplished much through her initiative and effort. She did all she did while raising a son and managing a household. This woman is smart, organized, and articulate. She has the courage to challenge the status quo and makes decisions viewing both sides of an issue. (Judge 6 years.)

The people of Hamilton County can do no better than Stephanie Dumas for County Commissioner.

Bill Brayshaw is one of the best public servants Hamilton County has ever seen. He is low-key and just does his job.

All these anonymous comments. Why are people in this city afraid to own what they say?

David Pepper and Phil Heimlich are both the sons of rich daddy's who have raped and plundered our area long enough. We need someone in office who doesn't come with their long list of cronies and donors to please. Someone who isn't interested in how much Banks money they can line their friends pockets with (Pepper) and who doesn't support people like Bill Bennet coming here and spreading his brand of racism and character(Heimlich).

If you want a candidate who wants to do what's best for HAMILTON COUNTY not what's best for her buddies then you should vote Stephanie Dumas for Commissioner in the May 2 Primary as the Democratic Candidate, not Pepper. It's as simple as that.

As for the The Enquirer, they are not ashamed, but they should be, of their lack of coverage of Dumas. I don't know if or how much the local Republican Party pays Gannett to keep Dumas' name out of the press but, if they do, it must be a lot because the Equirer are holding up their end of the bargain nicely.

It is disgusting, it's not the first time and the Enquirer should be boycotted for promoting racism and cronyism.
