Kay who?

Amber Ellis reports from Butler County:

Within hours of Kay Rogers’ resignation, all signs of her photograph, name and 12-year history with the office had been removed from the Butler County auditor’s website.

The website, which alerts visitors that it’s under construction, now bears information about interim director Michael Tilton, a 28-year employee with the department and current director of its real estate division.

Tilton, of Hanover Township, will be sworn in by county commissioners Wednesday during a special session. He’ll fill in until the Butler County Republican Party’s central committee appoints a permanent replacement. That could take up to 45 days.

Following a family tradition, Tilton will become a third-generation auditor. His grandfather, A.R. "Ray" Tilton, served four terms in the position before being replaced by his son, James A. Tilton, a three-term auditor in Butler County.

Rogers tendered a resignation letter late last week, apologizing for her actions and saying she’d step down Tuesday. The former auditor pleaded guilty in December to federal bank and mail fraud charges related to a fiber optics scandal that exploded in 2005. Rogers also pleaded guilt to an unrelated charge of filing a false income tax return. She could face up to 33 years in prison for her role in the conspiracy, though federal sentencing guidelines suggest a prison term of 51 to 63 months.

'Get out the Vote' rally at Miami U.

Tonight's hockey game between Miami and Ohio State universities, at Steve Cady Ice Arena in Oxford also will be the site of a "get out the vote rally."

The rally begins at 5:30 p.m. The hockey game starts two hours later.

Erik Smith, a Miami U. graduate working with the Ohio Public Interest Research Group's New Voters Project, said the aim is to mobilize students in advance so politicians "will pay attention to our issues. We really want to break the cycle of neglect."

Smith said youth organizers will be working around the clock in advance of Tuesday's presidential primary election to remind students to cast their votes.

Students leaders from the Miami University Associated Student Government will ask classmates to sign a pledge to vote, "showcasing old fashion grassroots peer-to-peer contact to mobilize students to the polls for the primary and beyond,'' Smith said.

John "No Earmarks" Boehner launches website

From the office of West Chester's Rep. John Boehner, the House GOP Leader

House Republicans Launch Earmark Reform Website

EarmarkReform.House.Gov Will Be Hub for Earmark Reform News, GOP-Led Reform Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Though House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her Democratic colleagues have rejected House Republican calls for an immediate moratorium on all taxpayer-funded earmarks, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today announced a new, dedicated resource in the House Republicans’ ongoing fight to change the way Washington spends taxpayer dollars. House Republicans have launched a website focused solely on earmark reform, serving as a hub for news and information regarding House GOP efforts to hold the Majority to its promises to fundamentally overhaul the taxpayer-funded earmark system. The website can be found at http://earmarkreform.house.gov and includes a web video from Boehner introducing this first-of-its-kind resource.

“The earmarking process in Congress has become a symbol of a broken Washington,” said Boehner. “While families struggle with rising costs of living, politicians are wasting their money on pork-barrel projects we don’t need. This website will keep tabs on the Majority, which refuses to join House Republicans in supporting an earmark moratorium, and will chronicle our efforts to begin changing the way Washington spends taxpayers’ money.”
