John "No Earmarks" Boehner launches website

From the office of West Chester's Rep. John Boehner, the House GOP Leader

House Republicans Launch Earmark Reform Website

EarmarkReform.House.Gov Will Be Hub for Earmark Reform News, GOP-Led Reform Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Though House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her Democratic colleagues have rejected House Republican calls for an immediate moratorium on all taxpayer-funded earmarks, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today announced a new, dedicated resource in the House Republicans’ ongoing fight to change the way Washington spends taxpayer dollars. House Republicans have launched a website focused solely on earmark reform, serving as a hub for news and information regarding House GOP efforts to hold the Majority to its promises to fundamentally overhaul the taxpayer-funded earmark system. The website can be found at http://earmarkreform.house.gov and includes a web video from Boehner introducing this first-of-its-kind resource.

“The earmarking process in Congress has become a symbol of a broken Washington,” said Boehner. “While families struggle with rising costs of living, politicians are wasting their money on pork-barrel projects we don’t need. This website will keep tabs on the Majority, which refuses to join House Republicans in supporting an earmark moratorium, and will chronicle our efforts to begin changing the way Washington spends taxpayers’ money.”

This is the kind of leadership we need more of from Boehner. Most Congressmen are abusing this process.

Mean Jean Schmidt is one of the shameless purveyors of pork. Perhaps one of the reasons she likes tax increases so much is her inability to control her spending urges.

Congressional candidate Tom Brinkman has pledged to oppose all earmarks. If we can elect the respectable Brinkman over Bob Taft in a skirt, he can join Boehner and Steve Chabot to fight for much-needed fiscal responsibility.

We certainly didn't hear the wRong wingnut whackos condemning earmarks when his cronies had the majority, DID YOU ?

No, the 'boner' didn't create a website when the 'culture of corruption' was draining the treasury !

Unfortunately, the only way for restraint, on the 'bush-whacko' misleader, is to attach earmarks to his 'oil war' funding !

NO ONE is buying their RHETORIC, anymore !

PATHETIC 'HypocRites' !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2008 !

Yes, there's a lot of Republicans who were battling this issue even when they had the majority. The problem remains the same as it was then - a minority of Republicans, and practically zero Democrats oppose earmark abuses. If we can elect Tom Brinkman, Steve Chabot, and John Boehner, then SW Ohio will be doing its part to end this heinous practice.

This is great for John Boehner. Jean Schmidt needs to follow his lead before she hands the 2nd district over to the dems.

It's not rhetoric, you fool.

Rep. John Boehner has never voted for an earmark for his district. Never.

Look it up, if you can break away from cruising the men's restroom for foot-tapping action.

Earmarks EXPLODED uinder Republican rule...not they want a "moratorium". While I agree, the hypocrisy is overwhelming.

This bill is at least 2 or 3 Congresses to late. Why didn't the Minority Leader ask for this moratorium when his party was in power.

Can we see Mr. Suntan cry on his website? What a partisan hack that empty suit is. He never complained about earmarks when his party was running Congress.

All those in favor of earmarks, raise your hand.
"No earmarks" has been his personal pledge from day 1. Now we're going to crucify him for his timing?
Don't think it'll pass but I applaud him for trying and raising the issue's profile.
This ought to be a question for all Presidential/Congreessional candidates. I'd love to hear Jean gag out an answer to that one!

Funniest web site I've ever seen! A Republican pretending to be against earmarks is like a crack addict pretending to stay clean. Or George Bush pretending to be against corporate corruption. Or Karl Rove pretending to be against dirty tricks.

LOL!

Um... aren't earmarks what's paying for a lot of the Banks Project? Are earmarks bad, or are earmarks (for everyone else) bad?

Boehner is battling his own party on this as much as he is battling the Dems. The problem is Pelosi, etc., refuse to join him in the fight becaue they are hypocrites.

Foot-tapping bold typist:

I realize you have an IQ of 30 or so, but try to focus.

CITE THE BOEHNER EARMARK___________

Go ahead. Take your time.

...still waiting

Earmarks are a bipartisian problem. I think the bigger issue is that John has been there in Washington standing as close to Bush as he can. I hope it was worth the damage you and your party have done to this country and world. I'll never vote for a republican again.
