They're Back

All nine Cincinnati City Council members were re-sworn in Saturday morning at City Hall.

Here's some of what you missed if you weren't there:

Vice Mayor David Crowley brought about 20 family members with him, including all six grandchildren. It's his fourth and final term because of term limits. Crowley said he'd continue to work for the poor, infirm, elderly, homeless and children.

Mayor Mark Mallory called it a "great and glorious day."

Chris Monzel, sworn in by his mother, got a little choked up talking about how supportive his wife was during the campaign. "She's the glue that holds this together," he said.

Laketa Cole gave "honor and glory to the heavenly father" and thanked her mom, sister and aunt.

Leslie Ghiz thanked her new husband, Steve Aziz. They got married two weeks ago, two weeks after the election.

Cecil Thomas said voters showed intellect in 2005 when they chose new leadership and proved it again by re-electing everyone.

Jeff Berding promised to continue being a cheerleader for the good things about the city.

Chris Bortz was sworn in by his dad, Neil, who added this onto the oath at the end: "And I'll listen to my father." Bortz repeated that, too.

Congratulations to the 2007 Council. You made many promises to the City (during the campaign) on moving the City forward, so please don't let the voters down. And if I(or any citizen) can be of service, please call. Let's get the City back to the good old days of being the "most livable." There is much work to be done. We all need to pitch in.

Maybe while they are patting one another on the back they could remember: They have not done anything in two years!

"rowley said he'd continue to work for the poor, infirm, elderly, homeless and children."

Any room in there to [do] work [on behalf of] the taxpayers and not just the taxconsumers?

CROWLEY was appointed Vice Mayor next to MALLORY as Mayor. Lord help our City! The tax burden will continue with this type of leadership. Raise more money for social services is both their promises.

The City needs to get out of the social services business and LOWER OUR TAXES! You are killing the law-abiding taxpayer.

At least Chris doesn't deny the fact that his father is really the one in office...

Pavelish, you lost. Get over it. Go have a beer with John Eby.

So Bortz announces what we already know: HE IS A SHILL FOR THE FAMILY BUSINESS!

.

With the Cincinnati Police having to return 2.5 mil. to the city, the City should have to give the money to the pools and clinics.

After all, the taxpayers paid for the County boys to make all those illegal searches in OTR when the City Police had the funds for more officers !

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2008 !

Here's something the Enquirer might want to ask John Boehner...

Why does his website say that Iran is "actively building nuclear weapons"? This has been proven untrue:

A new assessment by American intelligence agencies released Monday concludes that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and that the program remains frozen, contradicting a judgment two years ago that Tehran was working relentlessly toward building a nuclear bomb.

I would like to join Pavelish and Eby over a beer. These were two candidates who ran good campaigns and seemed to want to do some good for the city. (not like some of the "nightmare nine" who won re- election.

Is it possible for a city council to have so many Z's in its names?

and Leslie Ghiz is now going to become Leslie Aziz? or perhaps Leslie Ghiz-Aziz?

While trolling in the OTR area the foot-tapping bold typist always feels threatened by the thought of being searched by the police.

Hitler only needed a couple of subs to guard Bremmerhaven, and he stopped building them in '38.

To Anon 4:08 pm,5:40 pm,9:54 pm, and all other interested parties, check out the following disclosure sight, select Chris' PDF file, and review all the way to the bottom. Then, all you non-believers, tell me the conflict of interest is not continuing since Arnie was in office.

Why was Scott Gehring fired from Council Member Leslie Aziz's (or is it Leslie Ghiz-Aziz or Leslie Ghiz) office? Been hearing all kinds of nasty rumors. Also, please clarify how Mrs. Aziz would like to be addressed. Thank you.

Also, God bless you on your marriage.

Anon 8:33,

For the last time, Scott was NOT fired. He left of his own accord to devote his full attention to his state representative campaign. Leslie Ghiz was disappointed to see him go, wishes him well, and continues to support him.

His district is the Republicans' top pick-up priority. Scott meets with Speaker Husted and his staff on a regular basis to map out strategy. In Columbus, Scott Gehring is considered to be one of the rising stars in the party. In Cincinnati, too many people on this blog have let rumor, innuenedo and anonymous slanders from the Cappell/Harlow/Whistleblower cartel cloud their thinking.

Not even 25 yet, Scott is already a community leader, a homeowner, husband, and manager of many successful campaigns. He was an Eagle Scout and an honors student. The anonymous losers on here are 10 years older than Scott and are still way, way behind him in terms of meaningful accomplishments.

The 11:30 anon must be Scott or his wife. Far from being a "rising star" in Columbus, the local and state Republican organizations are looking for someone to challenge him in a primary.

It is a tough challenge to find someone to primary Scott because most sane people know this seat is a total D stronghold and winning the primary just guarantees defeat in November 2008. If Scott believes he can win this race, after getting 33% of the vote in 2006, he is delusional. Even if this is the GOP top pick-up priority, defending vulnerable incumbents and the seats their members are term-limited out of will be higher priorities.

Scott does not own the home in which he lives. His mother does. Check the address listed on his campaign website with the County Auditor's office. It is owned by a Carole Gehring of Delhi Township. Googling Scott's name will show that he used that Delhi Twp address when he was an 18-year0old running for Delhi Township Trustee. He got thrashed in that race, too.

Besides the 2005 campaign of Leslie Ghiz, which he did not manage though he was a paid staffer on, what other "successful" campaigns has he worked on?

If he even was an Eagle Scout and honors student, then congratulations to him. The trouble is, that was then and this is now.

Gehring's problem is that no one cares how popular or accomplished he was at Elder or UC. He needs to get out of the kitty pool. Now.

LOL. Someone forgot to put a disclaimer on that message saying his wife wrote it. If she thinks he wasn't fired then she is dreaming. What else isn't he telling her?

^Hahahaha. Nice way to overcompensate, Scott. Little sensitive are we?

Anon 11:30,

Perhaps the Speaker is more gullible than most of us Cincinnatians are. Perhaps he has failed to do any basic google searches or any other sort of checking of Scott.

Scott does NOT own his home. His mother does. According to the Hamilton County Auditor, 3030 Montana Avenue is owned by Carole Gehring.

As for his being a "community leader," are you including the 7 months he served as Blue Chip Young Republican president, where he did nothing? Oh, yeah, when another member sent out an e-mail cirticizing a fellow Republican, he was repeatedly asked to denounce it and reaffirms the club's support for the councilman. He refused. He barely found time to publicize club meetings or even try to ask someone to do something about the lame website. He did find time to help Democrat David Pepper out at parades, though. Yeah. Maybe we just can't see his greatness but we are somehow manipulated by 3 people 99% of the county wouldn't know from Adam.

And he was the "manager of many successful campaigns?" Try again, Jen! He didn't even "manage" Leslie Ghiz' campaign in 2005!

I also can't swallow the idea that he just decided to up and leave Leslie's employ to focus on a campaign that was 14 months away. That is a long time to go without a paycheck. Of course, if your mommy owns your home....

Oh, wait. He did get a job. He managed a Democrat's unsuccessful city council campaign. Or, he was "just helping out." Whatever.

He was also an ardent supporter of Issue 27. How did that work out for him?
Maybe he was an Eagle Scout and an honors student. Good for him. However, with all the other easily disproven lies you are spewing out about him, it's hard to believe those.

It'll be both fun and sad watching Jeff Capell amd Michael Harlow destroy the once-great Blue Chip Young Republicans.

at 4:36 PM, December 08, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 2:25,

So, which is it? Was Harlow controlling the group all along, as some allege? Or is he just now stepping up to the plate?

Given that he was a former national officer (try googling him)
I doubt he even cares anymore.

Scott, please stop blaming other people for your problems.

Republican vs. Republican. Just great. Who started this pi$$ing match, anyway? Meanwhile, the real enemy, Queen Hitlery, slithers toward her coronation.

at 12:27 PM, December 11, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter who started what. The backstabbers [you know who you are] and Whistleblower snitches [Michael Harlow, Jeff Capell, etc.] don't like it very much when the truth is spoken about them. Watch the Blue Chip Young Republicans continue to sink into irrelevance under them.
