Dohoney: Mostly Ss and Gs, one SU

City Manager Milton Dohoney gets good marks from the council members who reviewed his first year's performance in August. Now, Mayor Mark Mallory's proposing to give Dohoney a 7% raise, which would take his $185,000 salary to almost $198,000.

Mallory says in a memo that council will take up the issue Wednesday.

Read Dohoney's evaluation here.

Ten dozen donuts would do just fine.

Not !

Are you kidding U.S. !

Presidents before the wRong wingnut 'bushwhacker' only received $250,000 per. year !

Anyone can close pools to save money for corporate interests !

Anyone can cut human resources to meet financial obligations !

Other than that, what has he done ?

$8,000 could pay the salary for 2 part time seasonal life-guards !

PATHETIC !

Does anyone deserve a 7% raise in an organization facing a deficit and talking about layoffs? Lead by example.

I thought the city had budget problems. Apparently not, when Leslie Ghiz and Chris Bortz give bonuses to their aides, waste $1 million on The Slave Center, and award a huge raise to the City Manager. These are not the acts of responsible leaders guiding the city through a so-called budget deficit.

This city is broke. They're laying off people. Closing Health Centers. Canceling bike trails. Now they're giving their star player a raise? Thank you Mark Mallory. See you at the ballot box in 2 years when we vote you out.

Funny... I can remember for several years, I was denied a salary step-up or raise from the City while working in management. We managers were told the City was dealing with a budget crisis and our salaries were being frozen. My job review was just as good as Mr. Dohoney's. For three years my good efforts weren't financially rewarded.

Why can't Mr. Dohoney "suck it up" and take one for the "team" like we had to. After all, everyone is screaming the City's in another budget crisis.

"Leslie Ghiz and Chris Bortz waste[d] $1 million on The Slave Center"

Hey hey hey: Greg Landsman needed a make-work job as "Director of Special Projects" and Mr. Frances Pepper, aka Big Daddy, wasn't going to take "we can't afford it" for an answer!

Typical government ... when a budget deficient is occurring, the top management expects a raise. This is utterly ridiculous! I am not saying Mr. Mahoney is/is not doing HIS job, he SHOULD NOT - along with Council Members, the Mayor, etc... - being getting any type of raise, bonus, or increase. Lord have Mercy, it would take me one-year salary to get his 7% increase. Plus, do the math, it would take a lot of hard working years for me to even add up to his current salary. Please consider us taxpayers who are trying to pay their bills. This is a selfish undertaking, if he accepts such a raise. We will see if he practices what he speeches about cutting back. He is earning a darn fine salary as is ... and ... it should be frozen until our taxes decrease and the budget is in better shape.

I agree that no taxpayer dollars should be funding the Freedom Center. We vote on this expediture and it was to be privately funded by donations and/or fundraisers.

I am also tired of paying out of my pocket for City-runned social services. This is double-taxation. The County already has problems!

REDUCE OUR TAXES!!!!!! And, sorry Mr. Mahoney, this is not the right time for you to receive extra taxpayer money in your pants' pocket either. Nothing personal, but I am having a hard time paying my utilities and for basic needs at present. Wake-up and smell the coffee. You are on the wealthy side of the street.

Here, Here, Anon 12:17! I've pared down to the bare bones. I can just about pay the utility bill & the ever skyrocketing water bill. Everytime I go to the gas station & the grocery, it's more heartache. Dohoney doesn't deserve such a lush raise.

As for his customer service skills with the neighborhoods, this guy stinks out loud. When he turned his head & dug in his heels over the City Solicitor firing Terry Cosgrove, he wouldn't talk to the residents in the neighborhoods, return phone calls or answer correspondence. Dohoney gets a big, fat zero from me on his performance review.

Just think people! When we vote out Mayor Zero, we can also get rid of his Manager Zero!!! I can't envision a better, stronger, smarter Mayor keeping this guy around to take up space.

I would simply like to know how many of these respondents, if told they were doing a good job, would not ask for a raise or turn one down if it were offered to them. It is interesting how we will judge others quicker than we will judge ourselves.

Anon 7:46 does not get the point.

Plenty of folks are doing a good job and NOT getting 7% raises.

It's called leadership. Especially when you are making $185k to start.

ANON 7:46 AM, We have given up our raises a couple of times over the past years at Hamilton County. They may not be consecutive years, but it is going to happen this round, too.

I would suggest that our Board of County Commissioners write a check along with the County Administrator, when they receive their automatic raises in their paychecks. This would be the right thing to do considering the horrendous budget problems taking place right now.
