Mallory in court today - on the bench

Kimball Perry reports:

He's not been sworn in yet as a judge but Dwane Mallory was on the bench today.

Mallory, 50, of North Avondale, was monitoring Room A today in preparation for his official duties as a Hamilton County Municipal Court judge that start next month.

Mallory, a Democrat, was sitting with Municipal Court Judge Julia Stautberg (partially obscured) to see how Room A -- the arraignment, or first, court for those who have been arrested and couldn't make bond overnight.

He was learning the process, how the paper work flows in preparation for when he takes his judicial seat next month. Room A is presided over by the 14 Municipal Court jugdes who rotate there in addition to their normal dockets.

Mallory defeated current Municpal Court Judge John Burlew, a Kennedy Heights Republican, who had the District 1 judgeship since 2001.

Mallory is the brother of Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory and Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge William Mallory Jr. and state Rep. Dale Mallory.

Dynasties.

It makes my stomache turn to see the repeating sur names in politics that gives the impression of political legacies and entitlements: Clinton-Clinton, Bush-Bush-Bush, Mallory-Mallory-Mallory-Mallory-Mallory.

While nothing is inherently wrong with this, particualrly if you hail from the view of "a family tradition of public service" but something just doesn't feel right about it.

Under closer analysis, I think a distinction can be made as to why some of these repeaters are bad. Clinton, as much as I don't like her, has created a record of her own underwhich to run for office. Bush performed no public services (even those mandated under the draft) underwhich he presented an interest and experience in public service.

The Mallorys are a combination of both. Mallory Senior is undoubtably a true, sincere public servant who earned every bit of his reputation through hard work and advocacy. Those that follow are less honorary. Mark appears to be the bridge from his father's legacy to his siblings entitlement. Mark, while riding his fathers coattails, made a name for himself and can still a politician in his own right, even if less impressive than his father.

The rest of the Mallory boys. Well, I just see nothing in their bios that lead me to believe that they earned their positions either before or after being appointed to a post. They seem, as men, to be content with the ride and quite satisfied with having no legacy - like Bush - other than their name. And like Bush II, this is never a good thing.

When in the world will electors become more discriminating in casting their votes and take a good hard look at what these people have actually helped their communities. (And that goes for the floating names on ballots from one expired term to the other, as well)

Of course this business with the Mallorys doesn't pass the sniff test. This time around, Daddy Mallory had to shell out to buy 100+ votes so this kid had a Judge's job.

Daddy Mallory has been using the same page from Papa Joseph Kennedy's (JFK's daddy)playbook for all his kids. It seems without Daddy, the kids couldn't seek out their own jobs & careers. But hold on. Once Daddy goes to the great beyond, the kids will be left high & dry on the vine.

Judge Bill Jr. thinks he's running a TV Court show, Denise collects a paycheck from the Lottery Commission, Dale's still shady & hasn't done spit to represent the voting public in Columbus, Joe's handling ballots over at the Board of Elections & Duane, the rookie Judge, never prosecuted a criminal case while in the employ of the City, despite what so-called people in the know say. And then, we have the the wonderful Mayor Zero, who promised everything & has since shortchanged everyone on the deliverables.

Folks say our Courts are a problem. It's only going to get worse with the Mallorys clowning around.

The first step to prove your hypothesis would be to remove the wink, wink, winkler family from the court house.

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2008 !

Dwane was a fine prosecutor who handled a great deal of cases with a good record. He will make a honest judge
