Election 2008: Too close to call in Ohio

Howard Wilkinson reports:

If Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Rudolph Giuliani were facing off in the presidential election today, Ohio voters would be split nearly dead even, according to a new Quinnipiac Poll.

And having Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on the ticket as a vice presidential candidate – a job Strickland says he is not interested in – would not help the Democratic presidential candidate, according to the poll from Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

The Quinnipiac Poll, which surveyed 1,231 Ohio voters between Nov. 6-11, showed Clinton with 44 percent support and Giuliani 43. That is an improvement for the former New York City mayor, who trailed Clinton in Ohio by six percentage points in an October Quinnipiac Poll.

The poll shows some serious obstacles among women, however:

- 46 percent of married Ohio women say they would never vote for Clinton.

- Meanwhile, 46 percent of single women say they'd never for for Guiliani.

Carl,

You should not assume that HR Clinton or the Rino mayor are going to make it past presidents day. Both have too much 'splainin to do.

I hate this crap. The election isn't held today so what's the point? The media in this country is horrible.

A well funded, well known, middle of the road independent candidate could swing the entire Presidential election one way or the other. Even if he only made it onto the ballot in a few states.

Given our current selection of Presidential candidates, an independent candidate is, in my opinion, inevitable.

Oh, and another thing...

Howard Wilkinson is AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME. Really enjoyed his talk tonight.

It's seems that the media in this country have already decided whom our next presidential nominees will be one year out from the election itself. Rudy or Hillary? Thank you for speaking for the 300,000,000 citizens in this country. I guess we can all go back to watching "Dancing With The Stars" and the upcoming pro basketball season now.

We need to get rid of the 2 party system if these are the candidates it produces. Can someone without a ginormous amount of money, but with a ton of common sense and understanding of the people's interests please run for president?

I could live with Rudy, but only because Hillary is the absolute worst possible choice for president. Have we all been brainwashed that we must vote for former presidents relatives? If so... is there anyone related to George Washington out there...?

Dear Anonomyous,

How do you feel about an Independent Candidate for Congress in the 2nd District?

Independent candidates are a good idea BUT independent candidates (and small party candidates) are not taken seriously. Money donors are party members, union workers vote party, special PAC endorsements always go to party candidates. and the average voter prefers party. Cincinnati and the rest of the country prefer the TWO party system. I do not see this changing in the near future. Trust me, I know...
