BCYRs: New Leadership

There's new leadership of the Blue Chip Young Republicans. In an election Monday night, members chose Jeff Capell as chairman. He's the guy who had words with Sheriff Simon Leis during the campaign about the jail tax. He defeated chairwoman Nickell Marsland.

Also elected: Jason Gloyd, chairman of WeDemandABetterPlan.com, the coalition that helped defeat the tax increase. He's the group's new secretary, defeating Corie Roudebush.

Other officers: vice chairman Collin Rink; treasurer Mark Imwalle, who ran unopposed; at at-large officers David Kern and Ron Richmond.

Capell said he, Gloyd, Kern and Richmond ran as a slate.

The group started in 1988, campaigning that year for Steve Chabot as its first project.

If you want to know how effective this group is, look at this page on the website.

They deposed Gehring 3 months ago and can't be bothered to update their webpage. He is STILL the contact!

Pathetically hillarious!

Great dweedle-dum and dweedle-dummer leading the pack. God help the GOP with these clowns in charge

The truly hilarious punchline here is that the word is out from on-high that Jeff Capell is going to be laid off from his comfy County job, paid for by Joe Taxpayer, thanks ti the very campaign Capell took part in. Congratulations Jeff, you will now get to compete in that Free Market which you right-wingers like to hype up so often.

BTW, isn't Capell kind of old to be a "Young Republican"? I mean this guy has been out of college for a decade now. Get real.

Wow. They backed a loser 20 year ago when Luken creamed Chabot. Have they EVER backed a winning candidate?

This gaggle of back-stabbing amateurs sure is good at one thing: getting the Enquirer to publish their press releases. They are equally good at another thing, too: getting the Enquirer to not bother to do any research on these people.

For instance, where does Cappell work? Where does Gloyd actually have any properties listed? What about Richmond and Kern?

If, as I have heard, the defeated ladies all had jobs in county government, that would be useful to know, too.

Are we taxpayers subsidizing their illegal political activities carried out at the behest of their Republican masters? You know, like voter supression, ballot-destruction, and other illegal and immoral activities designed to keep the illegitimately "elected" Republican crooks in power?

I am sorry Corie lost to someone as wacked out as Gloyd.

Capell doesn't even work for the county, goofball.

Perhaps it is a bit of a misnaming, but one can be a Young Republican until age 40.

Great Capple, Gloyd and DeWhine.... 3 strikes and we are out! Thanks for helping the GOP lose the county - faster.

At least disgraced former staffer Scott Gehring isn't running the Blue Chip YRs any longer. Where is ol' Scott these days? Has he recovered from sinking the Melanie Bates for Council campaign?

Misnaming ?
heck, they pretty much acknowledge they are a fringe group dedicated to taking over and manipulating the Republican party !

From their site:
"The Blue Chip Young Republicans (BCYR) is the premier organization in Greater Cincinnati for young professionals who share a conservative viewpoint. The mission of our club is to advance a conservative platform from within the Republican Party by bringing together conservatives in the greater Cincinnati area for fellowship and debate; by educating, from a conservative standpoint, the general public, the media and our members about the most important issues of the day; by teaching our members about the American political system and the Republican Party structure so that they can become effective, activist citizens; and by mobilizing the community to elect conservatives."

This is another bad day for CincyStalker (the impersonator CincyCapell). First his beloved Issue 27 falls, where he got to read all about Mr. Capell's successes. Now he sees his idol has won the Chairmanship of a local political club.

Mr. Capell's been able to get his points out through the media. CincyStalker has nobody to listen to him. Except when he posts to the blogs, and even then he has to use Capell's name to do it.

and mike harlow's stalker has been pretty quiet lately too. when you accuse someone of managing a campaign you believe will lose, and then it wins, it can make you gt pretty quiet. so his next move was to claim harlow was behind this faction in blue chip. then they won, too. go back to trying to tell everyone he managed PAST losing campaigns. even if it isn't true, that way reality can't come bite you.

Anon 6:41,

From what I hear, Gehring is telling people he was behind the successful ouster of the people who outsted him.

aside from all that, don't you all know that he is busy with his state representative campaign?

The Republican Party needs to get a stronger candidate to run for State Representative for GEHRING will lose once again. Wake-up... ask John Eby or Pete Witte!

the crew at 700 walnut did nothing when ghizzy endorsed pepper. they did nothing when some moron sent their chairman obvious forged letters. they did nothing when other candidates openly went against them on the comprehensive safety plan. the idea that they will do anything to prevent this clown from being their nominee in a district they can't win is pretty silly.

Michael Harlow is an ineffective political advisor. It's nothing personal - just stating a fact. The Tri-State is littered with the political corpses of his former clients. Michael Harlow is the Bob Shrum of Greater Cincinnati politics.

TD,
Care to provide any evidence that Harlow has worked on a losing campaign besides McEwen (who was long flawed before they met)?
Oh, and anonymous blog postings don't count.

I know him and have worked with him on campaigns with Chabot, Raussen, and Brinkman. In other words, people who win.

Are you the same moron who claimed he was involved with the No on 27 group, then tried to change your story and say he was with the Yes team when they lost?

Some people are on here to try to cover up the fact that they themselves have lost many campaigns this year. Or, that they got fired from a winning team, managed a losing team, and got expelled from the club, all in the same year.

No, not really.

This press release is about as newsworthy than Dean of Cincinnati blog post.

Anon 11:27AM is Capell patting himself on the back. And why not, he's the leader of a fringe group which is part of a party that's about to lose all of it's power across the Nation in the next election. WOW! Well done Jeffy. Once DeWhine looses (which he will) and Schmidt (or a Dem) kicks filthy Phil Heimlich's corrupt arse you will be laughably irrelevant, as opposed to being merely completely irrelevant as you are now.

Anon 11:54 AM:

Can I provide any evidence that Michael Harlow worked on a losing campaign besides Bouncing Bob McEwen? Sure can.

If you know anything at all about local Cincinnati politics, then you'd know that Harlow was part of Paul McGhee's unsuccessful city council campaign in 2005. Since you're ignorant of such matters, you should let more intelligent persons comment on this blog.

You should follow this advice:
"Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

at 9:42 PM, November 27, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

anon 7:20, what evidence do you have that he was part of McGhee's campaign? did McGhee pay him? do you have a picture o him with McGhee? or in a McGhee shirt? I find it hard to believe a lifelong suburban Republican would manage a city Democrat running as an independent. Well, besides Scott Gehring and he at least lives in the city.

Anon 720 PM,

If you are such the "more intelligent person" on matters of Cincinnati politics, perhaps you can enlighten all of us and tell us who was associated with all other Council campaigns in 2005. Even a few would be good. Please, share this alleged intelligence with all of us. And why limit yourself to 2005. Please tell us the name of every volunteer or paid staffer on every campaign this year, too.

I have no way of knowing if you are Scott Gehring or not, but you are certainly acting like him. Please, do us all a favor and follow your own advice.

Um, anon 7:20, I was a member of Blue Chip (well, I came to the meetings, I don't think I paid dues). That club was really pushing McGhee's race, which turned me off to them. They were also pushing Michael Earl Patton and some other guy who was nice but not inspiring. Bob something?

Anyway, I remember the two people in the club who were pushing McGhee the loudest. One was a girl and the other was a bald-headed guy who read a really nasty screed directed against the senior party establishment at one meeting. I thought his name was Steve and he was the guy who published Blue Chip Review and another website. Perhaps your superior expertise can help fill the gaps in my memory.

Regardless of who really is who on these blog postings, the fact remains that the Blue Chip Young Republicans finally ended the malaise of the past couple years and elected some real conservatives with a history of activism. As a nearly 15-year member of the club, and a previous club officer, I am very delighted at this recent turn of events. Perhaps the mission statement quoted here will have some meaning again. It certainly has not over the past 2 years.

The people who "led" the club over the past 2 years should really find something else to do with their time. Although, given the near-total lack of activity the past two years, they already have found something else to do with their time.

It's easy to criticize and complain from the sidelines...whether it's done anonymously on blogs or through the official COAST newsletter, the Whistleblower. That's especially true for antiquated members like the last poster - a person who can't even vote in Blue Chip elections because he's over the age of 40.

The Blue Chippers are now being led by the same guy that bad-mouthed it over the last year - Jeff Capell. Where was Capell a year ago when no one stepped forward to run the group? He was too busy blogging and poor-mouthing the group via the Whistleblower. It'll be interesting to see if the same group of snitches who complained after every meeting to the Whistleblower can run the club any better. I have my doubts and I'm not the only one.

at 2:05 PM, November 29, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

If anyone beleives that "Charles T." is anyone other than "Scott G." please call me right away. I have a bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in.
And since the age group for Blue Chip is 18-40, it is entirely possible that the 15-year member is not over 40 and left the club in total disgust over what it has become the past 2 years.

I am not certain that Capell & Co. could lead their way out of a paper bag. However, they can't do worse than the group that "led" the club last year and the year before.

If nothing else, the gaggle of Whistleblower snitches should be able to pull off a regular meeting and occasionally updating the club's website. That's something the last crew couldn't bother to do. The last group couldn't do it because they were too busy helping non-Republicans David Pepper, Paul McGhee, Michael Earl Patton, and Leslie Ghiz.

I've been a member of the Blue Chip YRs since about 2000. There have been regularly scheduled monthly meetings each and every month [except the summer months]. The past two years are no exception.

You just exposed yourself as a liar who isn't active in the Blue Chip YRs - so who cares what you think? You're an anonymous coward hiding behind a computer monitor. Better get your facts straight before you embarrass yourself again.

It's sad to see the once-great Blue Chip Young Republicans air their dirty laundry in public. It's the fault of Jeff Capell and Michael Harlow. That's how they operate. Backstabbers and snitches are now running this group.

It's been nothing but constant whining from these two idiots over the last couple of years. Anonymous whining through their official mouthpiece the Whistleblower, that is. Jeff Capell and Michael Harlow have driven away normal people from this group, never to return. The inmates are now running the asylum.

It's OK, anon 12:42. I know it's hard to get fired, be forced out of a club chairmanship, and manage a losing campaign, all within 75 days. You need to get off the blog and figure out what you want to be when or even if you grow up.

Hey, it's Blue Chip Snitch-Elect Jeff Capell chiming in at 5:05 PM. He's awfully witty, isn't he? He sure thinks so.

Save some of your material for the Whistleblower, Jeff, so you can badmouth other club members behind their backs.

I see Jeffy Cappell is still blogging away from his mommy's basement spreading his bilous hatred. Jeff would rather do that than try to do a job he would fail miserably at, like run the political group he just got himself elcted to. He has no clue how to lead. He just knows how to complain and spread hate. Jeff, you will soon learn the hard way that sucking up to fringe elements in a fringe party will get you nowhere. Unfortunately, you will take this once-great organization into the gutter and down the drain with you.

Let's all put down our arms for a minute and take a deep breath. We get nowhere as a club with this public infighting. We need to come together, and soon, for the 2008 elections. The past is the past, the future is now.

Anon 9:53,

Please, stop with the Kumbaya BS. The fringe nutjobs have taken over the GOP at every level. They are the Dems' best friends. That's why we are so pissed right now. From top to bottom, nutjobs have taken over the GOP and have effectively conceded the elections to Democrats already.

From the presidential debates down to the internal GOP squabbles, it is increasinlgy clear that one political party has disengaged itself from trying to appeal to swing voters and is going after a decreasing fringe element.

at 4:36 PM, December 03, 2007 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anon 10:28 - You mean a decreasing fringe element like the one that destroyed Issue 27? The old way of doing things is dead. It's insane to keep beating our heads against the wall by doing the same things and expecting different results.

I don't think anyone is conceding anything to the Dems. What has the namby-pamby leadership of the GOP got us at the polls in Ohio lately besides a slew of embarrassing losses? Step away from the ledge. Give this new leadership group a chance to do something. If they fail, have at it. Until then we need to focus more on what we agree upon and less on what keeps us apart.

7:08, others; it's not current Blue Chip leaders who are picking this fight. It's not even members, except those defending the club. It's an obvious effort by Democrats and a couple disaffected RINO's trying to turn the club against itself, and it's not working.
