Ohioans sharply divided on Iraq
Howard Wilkinson reports:
Ohio voters continue to be deeply divided over how the U.S. should proceed in Iraq and on whether or not this country should have been there in the first place, according to a new Ohio Poll.
And the new poll, conducted the University of Cincinnati’s Institute for Policy Research, shows that the deepest and possibly most irreconcilable differences are between Republican and Democrats over the wisdom of the decision to go to war and what to do next.

My name is Jim Parker and I was the first person in America to run for Congress against Jean Schmidt last year. While I was her only opponent, a Congressman from Pennsylvania, retired Marine Colonel John Murtha spoke on the floor of the US House of Representatives and proposed a redeployment of American troops to move outside of Baghdad and to the Iraqi perimeter. Our Congresswoman immediately spoke up and voiced her extremist opposition without giving any thought to any other alternative.
I represent the middle of America. I represent people who believe that when something isn't working, that we need to do something different... Something that works better. I represent the parents, the children, the husbands and wives of the thousands of American soldiers who have lost a loved one due to the war in Iraq. I represent the tens of thousands of American soldiers who have been permanently injured (physically and emotionally) by their role in this terrible conflict.
Terrorism is evil and it must be eliminated from the face of the earth but what we are doing isn't working. We can do this in a much safer, better way. A key difference between me and our Congresswoman is that she votes with the politicians in Washington nearly 100% of the time. Almost without thought... I would never cast a vote on anything without making sure that every possible alternative was considered. I would always do what is right for the people of Southern Ohio.
My name is Jim Parker and I believe in the American Dream. Part of that dream is to have a government that respects the lives of millions of Americans and billions of people in this world. Our current direction in this war and the current lack of ability for the US Congress to change the direction of this conflict is indicative of many of the things that are wrong in Washington.
Someday, I will run for Congress again.
Jim Parker
Future Democratic Candidate for US Congress

According to the press release, a shocking 77% (!!!) of Republicans think going into Iraq was the right decision. Another 3% of the population said they "don't know." Clearly, it's time to institute an intelligence test for voting in Ohio.
if 46% of the people still believe iraq is going well, its clear that the propaganda spewed by faux news is doing its job.

Well spoken.....'can't let Jim Crow die now can we ??????
PATHETIC !!!!!!!!!
I'm afraid not many people would be allowed to vote if we had an intelligence test.
Oh and I will not be voting for the brainless uber conservative Jean Schmidt and will do everything in my power to keep her from being elected again.
Rest assured fellow Democrats and Progressives the rest of the country is much smarter and will ultimately do the right thing and vote all war mongering criminal repugnots out of office in 2008. The country got a sneak preview in 2006 of what the ellectorate wants. The Democrats will take the presidency, and maintain a majority in the house and senate. Then we will see more timely results. Even usefullidiot's know that.
The foot-tapping bold typist says!...." Irag on nobody who may be in the next stall ".
Sick and tired of Jean Schmidt embarrassing the Cincinnati area?
Then help elect Victoria Wulsin for Congress.
I have always really like Jim Parker!
