Mitt's early start in Ohio

Granted, Ohio is not a top priority for any of the presidential candidates, Democratic or Republican, with its March primary likely to be a so-what affair.

But, nonetheless, Mitt Romney is light years ahead of the opposition when it comes to building a general-election campaign here.

It's one of his best fundraising states, thanks to Carl and Craig Lindner, the Pied Pipers of GOP fundraising who signed on with Mitt early and brought a lot of their corporate buddies with them.

Romney's campaign has also signed on two state legislators from opposite ends of the state to tout his candidacy - State Sen. Kevin Coughlin of Cuyahoga Falls to handle the north end of the state, State Rep. Shannon Jones of Springboro to handle Ohio south of Interstate 70.

The latest news from the Romney camp is that they have signed on a veteran GOP operator as their Ohio state campaign director - David Gallagher, who helped elect Mike DeWine to the U.S. Senate and was part of the Bush-Cheney team that won Ohio in 2004.

Gallagher has been working on GOP campaigns in Nevada for the past couple of years.

The only other GOP candidate to have a high-profile endorsement in Ohio is John McCain, whose state campaign chairman will be DeWine, his former Senate buddy. But there is no hint of any kind of McCain campaign organization in Ohio. Nor for any of the other GOP contenders.

Better get crackin'. Mitt's starting to suck all the air out of the room.

I guess you have to give credit where it's due.........good for Shanon Jones and Mitt Romney for getting a jump start on brainwashing oops I mean getting their message out. It's equally nice to know that fat greedy titians like the Lindner family are once again positioning themselves to heavily influence the general publics vote for their benefit.

Lets see, Mitt was against pro life and for gay rights when it could bring him votes in a liberal market. But know we are told his views have evolved toward the conservative agenda. Does anybody buy this BS. He's a greedy neocon who will stop at nothing to gain power. What does this tell you about Shanon Jones? It tells me she not that dumb after all - she realizes she lives in an area that still has a lot of neocons who sit around see Mitt on TV and then go to church and are basically told who to vote for.

Here's the problem for Mitt, Shanon, the Lindner family, and the rest of the local neocons; we the average American public are fed up with your greed, lies, and self serving policies. I don't think the GOP neocons realize that average Americans watch the news. We see that the worlds impression of America has changed in the face of Bush/GOP cowboy diplomancy and failed policies. We don't want more of the same. Mitt I don't care how many times you say you are the Republican wing of the the Repubilcan party and our votes will be safe with you. I'll bottom line it for you in simple non political talk - the GOP is dead to us.

Mitt wants to rant and rave, spewing the elephant dung propaganda, because the opposition raised more money than her crony racists could raise to pay her !

If shim were not a racist why would shim title the article:

Tase Him Bro !

Too bad 'bold edeavors' isn't a vile, wRong wingnut whacko !

Apparently, third-grade drop-outs buy into that stuff !

lol, lol, lol

PATHETIC HypocRites !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 and Little Jeffre !

Anon at 3:52pm,

It looks to me that the "Politics Extra" blog section is devoid of many national and international issues because the right-wing wackjobs who run this thing are afraid their readers might share information (aka. facts) which would ruin their pro-corporatist, 'just shut up and believe what we tell you and and buy what we advertise' viewpoints.

RON PAUL 2008!

The true candidate that Conservative, pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment, lower tax, smaller federal government, people who want secure borders, and support our troops can get behind is FRED THOMPSON!

What was the topic again? Oh, yeah: Mitt Romney is Playing Big in Ohio....something like that.

Then other commenters throw in their two cents about just who they would like to see as the Head of State.

Well, as Head of State, Mitt Romney certainly looks the part, very handsome sons; has a great political resume (Governor of a Big East State), nice Political Pedigree (his dad of course being former Michigan Governor George Romney).

But haven't we had enough "Packaging and Pedigree" for a lifetime? Both GW Bush and Al Gore were "would-be inheritors".......and now of course Hillary, in her own version of "Next in Line to the Throne."

I'm tired of it....but since Big Business controls the National Media (lets not even talk about Fox News).....we are not that likely to see anything other than "Glossy 8 x 10"- type candidates: highly packaged, on-message puppets.

All of them are under the control of their believe in Polling and Packaging...

Romney does make things interesting though: he actually believes in the Book of Mormon.

Go read it sometimes (you can just skim the first sentence of every paragraph if you'd rather, or perhaps get the Cliff Notes version of the Book of Mormon)
