Ghiz Is Getting Married

After a months-long wait for her fiancee's visa, Leslie Ghiz announced at council Wednesday that the wait is over and they'll be getting married less than two weeks after the election.

Her fiancee, Steve Aziz, is from Canada. They've got a house in North Avondale, and the wedding is set for Nov. 17.

That's the same day Ghiz's alma mater, West Virginia University, plays football here at U.C. since she'll miss the game, she videotaped a welcome message to be played for fellow alumni.

Viewing a video of Ghiz speaking is punishment in some countries.

May God bless you and Steve on your long-awaited day, Leslie! Many happy years are ahead of you. Have a great Wedding Day!

So Ghiz is marrying a foreigner AND dissing the UC Bearcats at the same time.

Perhaps she should run for City Council in Morgantown, West Virginia. If she's elected here, we can probably look forward to seeing the WVU games on the big screen at Fountain Square.

Gosh, what will they do if WVU and OSU are on TV at the same time but in different games?

Seriously, anyone is entitled to their allegiance for their alma mater, but if you aspire to be an official of a city, one would think you would be more sensitive to the issue; especially given the recent flap bout the TV at the square.

If you can figure that out, what does that say about your ability to deal with really complicated issues?

The field just got narrower for me.

So what? I could care less.

Since they've had a house together for a while, what I do want to know is if this fine, upstanding Republican is living in sin.

So, Leslie, are you entering into any kind of a pre-nup agreement with your husband to be? Is there any warranty or are you just taking him "as is."?

If you hyphenated your last names is would be "Ghiz-Aziz." Catchy!

Any word on which last name she'll use? Just curious. Either one is kind of snazzy.

We all wish Leslie and her new husband a long and happy life together. May God bless them with love, happiness, prosperity and lots of children.

if she's re-elected let's just hope that she gets pregnant ASAP and decides she doesn't want to run again in 09- her clock is ticking at 37.

Likewise on wishing the happy couple the best. But "Ghiz-Aziz" is pretty funny.

Will disgraced former Ghiz staffer Scott Gehring be invited to the nuptials? It won't be easy to find him after the election. Most likely he will be in hiding after destroying the Widow Bates for council campaign.

When is Cincinnati's most eligible bachelor, Mayor Mark, going to get married?
