Ghiz: All things in moderation

The endorsement of Leslie Ghiz for another term on Cincinnati City Council by the Republican Leadership Council (RLC) may be one of the more interesting endorsements of the council campaign season, especially given the fact that the RLC has had no real presence in Ohio up to this point.

The RLC is a Washington-based organization formed to counter-balance the influence of the religious right and the social conservatives in the Republican Party - an attempt to bring the party back toward the center. Just like the centrist Democrats did back in the late 1980s and early 1990s when the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) was formed to do the same thing for the Democratic party - only in the DLC's case, the idea was to halt the party's drift toward the left. Back then, they had a pretty good national spokesman - a young governor from Arkansas named Bill Clinton.

The RLC is headed by former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, whose own presidential and/or vice presidential ambitions were thwarted by opposition from the right wing of her party; former Missouri Sen. John Danforth, an Episcopal priest who has waged a running battle with the Christian conservative movement; and Michael Steele, the Maryland lieutenant governor, who has argued for a "big tent" GOP.

Combine the fact that the RLC is backing her bid for re-election and her very public support for the presidential candidacy of Rudy Giuliani and it becomes clear where Ghiz falls in the spectrum of American Republicanism.

In other words, we don't look for Citizens for Community Values or Family First PAC to be endorsing her any time soon.

Isn't this the same 'bust' shot the 'fishwRap' used two years ago ?

We can visualize the fat 'charles foster kain' graping his heart wondering if she's into the gang of 'blowers' !

PATHETIC 'family values' !

HAD ENOUGH:

VOTE NO, on the 'fanatical five' !

Does this have anything to do with her new campaign manager coming back from Rudy's California campaign?

Hmmm...

"...CiTiRAMA is a partnership between the City of Cincinnati and the Home Builders
Association of Greater Cincinnati. The 2007 show is the 8th CiTiRAMA in Cincinnati . The
City invested $725,000 in the project for public infrastructure, which leveraged $4.8 million
in private investment, which will create the 24 new homes in the completed development."

Let's see, the city can subsidize 24 homes at $ 30,000 each, but, they can't keep the pools open ?

Speaking of $30,000 where is that pay reduction Giz campaigned about in '05' and now her, wRong wingnut whacko, 'fish-eR' is try the same 'SCAM' !

PATHETIC HypocRites !

HAD ENOUGH:

VOTE, no on the 'fanatical five' !

VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT 2007 and JEFFRE !

We saw this photo last year...Leslie shows that it is indeed "what's up front that counts,".......which in case you didn't know it comes from an old TV ad about filtered cigarettes.

Probably you wouldn't know that because you are too young and nowadays they do not have cigarette ads on TV...just ads for medical conditions.

Anyway...I say "YES" to Leslie Ghiz and her candidacy for re-election.

Has she made good yet on her promise to return half of her Council salary, as Council members are obviously overpaid for part-time jobs?

I do support Leslie because she brings a fresh, inquiring spirit to Council. She is indeed a diligent member of Council and her love for Cincinnati is not to be doubted.

(She was born in West Virginia so she could have made her career there if she had wanted to.)

So YES to Leslie Ghiz (Leslie Ghiz-Aziz?) we need her on Council.

But please do get another photo of her as we are already bored with this one.

4:59, you are representing everything that is wrong with the party these days. Maybe if both the Republicans and Democrats moved more toward the middle, things would, you know, GET DONE!

Newsflash: Building homes in a city with really old housing stock, which attracts new residents to the city, who work here and buy things here, HELPS RAISE REVENUE THAT CAN BE USED TO KEEP POOLS OPEN!!!!!

Encouraging development: Good.

"...HELPS RAISE REVENUE THAT CAN BE USED TO KEEP POOLS OPEN!!!!!..."

While we wait for 'trickle on' economics, the community realizes that there is a big money transfer from the citizen to the organizations.

When you demonstrate that your priorities don't include the children and future members of a productive society, you breed crime and corruption !

Cart before the horse !

NO EXCUSE to not fully fund 1.5% of a budget for social services !

If they can give away a multi-million dollar garage to 3CDC, then, they certainly can keep health clinics, pools open !

GET REAL, PHONY !

HAD ENOUGH:

VOTE NO, on the 'fanatical five' !

VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT 2007 and JEFFRE !

Scott Gehring was fired by Leslie Ghiz and her campaign suddenly starts to gain momentum.

Coincidence? I think not! Scott Gehring is now going to torpedo the campaign of Melanie Bates. Maybe he's a Republican plant working to sabotage Melanie's efforts!
