Equality Cincinnati PAC Endorsements

The Equality Cincinnati PAC says it works to move gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people "closer to full equality" in Greater Cincinnati.

And these are the City Council candidates members think are most likely to help, according to a release this afternoon from chairman Chris Seelbach:

Incumbents Y. Laketa Cole; John Cranley; David Crowley; Leslie Ghiz; and Roxanne Qualls. Challengers: Brian Garry; Greg Harris; Joan Kaup; and Wendell Young.

I am surprised Chris Bortz wasn't endorsed considering his strong support of the Gay, Lesbian and Transgendered community.

I am really disappointed that John Eby didnt get endorsed too. I have heard him come out in support of those of us in the gay community.

If these guys needs to raise any money, they should call David Pepper and have his San Francisco friends write some checks.

If they'd swap boycott activist Brian Garry for John Eby, this would make a pretty darn good council.

I wonder why Bortz didn't get their endorsement? I know he's a registered Republican and anti-abortion, but I didn't think he was socially conservative on gay issues too.

I hope Leslie Ghiz puts this endorsement on her website. She has yet to acknowledge the Log Cabin Republican endorsement. Is she afraid her West side supporters will turn against her? Will POWRPAC pull her endorsement like they did for Bates if they find out she goes against their values?

We all believe in equal rights. BUT Equality Cincinnati is looking for SPECIAL rights and more Hate Crime legislation. A level and equal playing field is just not good enough for them. I can imagine how much pandering it took to get their endorsement. WOW !!!

John Eby should have received this endorsement...there's no reason for him not to.

Jane: before we all die, please report some backstory here.

Chris Seelbach works for Scott Seidewitz. Seelbach last managed Crowley's 2005 campaign.

What candidates are Seidewitz and Seelbach working for this year?

I believe it's called "giving readers information to help inform their opinions."

Bring Back Korte!

I did not vote for any candidate that is currently one of my clients.

There were 9 members of the committee that made the recommendations.

Were I on a screening/endoring committee, I would make it a condition of endorsing someone the fact that he or she pledges to put it on their campaign's website. It's a two-way street.

And, BTW, this is not limited to Equality Cincinnati.

"I did not vote for any candidate that is currently one of my clients."

Seelbach does a disservice to Cincinnati's GLBT community with his manipulative, self-serving, partisan crap. He is intentionally divisive and spiteful when he is supposed to be working for full equality. He's their chair? Too bad for EC.

Our foot-tapping bold typist says that any type of "PAC" would be just fine.

I know that other candidates have been supporters of equal rights as well, but Brian Garry earned this endorsement. He worked hard for the appeal article XII campaign. He has always spoken out in support of equal rights for all, even before he began his run for Council. Congrats to all the endorsement recipients.

Chris: thank you for reporting on what Jane's too lazy to report.

But the question remains: what candidates' campaigns are you & your employer working on or for?

Full disclosure, please.

Thanks!

I work for a private company, so we don't have a public duty to disclosure our client list, which is something our clients value.

However, you can search campaign finance reports for political candidates. They do have a duty to disclose their expenses, so you can find out that way.

For those who know me and for those who care ...here's what I think would make a good council slate: Roxanne Qualls, David Crowley, Justin Jeffre, Leslie Ghiz, John Cranley, Cecil Thomas, Lakita Cole, Chris Bortz and Wendell Young. Rox..that's obvious..her extensive urban planning background will be an asset for the Banks which WILL happen..Young and Thomas for their law enforcement background..Ghiz..speaks her mind..no flipping with this lady..always know where she stands..Jeffre..young acitivistism..why not? I think my "personal slate" reflects a good mix of race, age, gender and parties..I'm not a one party man..never have been

Almost forgot. My "slate" consists of people who support full equal rights for ALL citizens...that's a given for those of you who know me...you already know that...no Special Rights have ever been given to anyone...so can we please throw that tired inaccurate argument away? Who I date is most certainly known of your DAMN business so if you don't like gay, bi or trans folks don't hang out with my crew. Bitch about us in church and stay out of my face because verbal confrontations with me are very very very seldom won.
