Teacher union endorsements

The Cincinnati Federation of Teachers will vote on its endorsements for the November elections at a membership meeting tonight, president Tim Kraus said.

The union, the region's third largest, represents about 2,700 workers in Cincinnati Public Schools. Most of its planned endorsements are standard fare for organized labor, with one notable exception:

For City Council, the CFT intends to endorse all of the Democrats except incumbent Jeff Berding, Kraus said. Instead, Charterite Roxanne Qualls will get the nod in his place.

"Qualls has been a long time friend of education, and we haven't felt that Berding has been as supportive," Kraus said.

For the CPS school board, the union will back former TV reporter Michael Flannery, prevention educator Chris Nelms and teacher Eve Bolton, who's union president in Wyoming City Schools.

The union will also recommend a "yes" vote on every money issue on the ballot, including CPS' 9.95-mill levy.

Hmmm... no endorsement for Bates. That's not surprising, but she doesn't seem to be showing up on many other lists, either.

I guess the Enquirer's endorsement will be the only one she gets-- and, sadly, the only one she'll need. Think of all the free pub she'll get from the Enquirer, Clear Channel, and the 4 TV stations when her husband's killer's nicely-timed trial begins right before the election.

Much as I hate to see it, Bates is as good as here (adios, Berding). And we on 3 will once again be graced with the wit and wisdom of one C. Scott Gehring.

Why would it be any surprise the Teachers didn't endorse COASTer Melanie Bates? She's been anti-education since 2004.

This sounds like a Florida presidential election !

They know the out come before the votes are counted !

Don't be surprised if the bird-lings don't pack the room !

It would be less frightening if the 'fishwRap' would have stated: recommended endorsements to the electoral ?

PATHETIC VOTE PACKERS !

HAD ENOUGH:

VOTE NO on the 'fanatical five' !

VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 and Jeffre !

Are you kidding? Jeffre? Let's not adopt Nate Livingston's "waste one vote on someone who will make you laugh" mentality. Jeffre has nothing to offer this city.

Berding didn't get the endorsement because he is a sellout!

It's about time a union had the balls to not endorse Berding. Shame on the AFL-CIO, etc., for not standing up for their principles. Cheers to CFT!

Soooooo wRong !

He is a co-founder of the new Cincinnati Beacon !

http://cincinnatibeacon.com

It was their investigative journalism that assisted in hindlicks demise !

They brought facts to the fore-front !

You will find it FIRST at the Beacon before the 'fishwRap' !

In fact, we wonder if the 'fishwRap' doesn't get their initial leads from the Beacon ?

As the individuals and organization mature, they will be history making on more than one occasion !

Anyone with that passion for change and accountability would be an ASSET to any GREAT CITY !

HAD ENOUGH:

VOTE NO on the 'fanatical five' !

VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT and JEFFRE !

"being a friend of education" to the CFT means being a friend to the CFT.

How about endorsing a candidate who's a friend to the taxpayers who year after year fund the CPS rathole?

Anon 12:38 is a pretty typical Bates supporter. Attack teachers and schools since their candidate is anti-education. Pathetic.

I don't support Bates since I don't want her brand of fiscal irresponsibility infecting City Hall.

I'm not "attacking" teachers and schools, I'm writing that CPS have flushed enough money down the toilet with little to show for. Enough is enough.
