RoboWinburn
Charlie Winburn's making big use of robo-calling already. And you thought the election was still more than three months away.
He's auto-dialing households where people have birthdays. "Hello, this is Charlie Winburn," the familiar voice says. "I understand that there is a birthday in your household this month. And the Winburn family would like to wish this person a very happy birthday."
A friend got one of those Wednesday, the day before her birthday.
Then today, Winburn was on the horn again. This time, he asks that you join him in thanking Mayor Mark Mallory and Stan Chesley for Chesley's $80,000 contribution to keep the city's pools open more days. Many were set to close this week before the king of torts chipped in.
In the call, he seems to target Jeff Berding, urging people to call Berding's council office to say that council should keep all the pools open until Labor Day. Berding's not sure why Winburn would choose him, given that all of council voted for the current budget, which set the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's pool spending. In fact, Berding says, the initial budget he and others proposed last year - which he says reflected what he preferred to do on this issue - recommended closing several pools the rec commission said weren't well-used. Closing those, he said, would have kept the rest open until Labor Day. That budget proposed closing fewer than the nine proposed for closure by City Manager Milton Dohoney.
On the floor of council yesterday, Berding said he thinks all nine council members understand the importance of keeping pools open and that he thinks they'll be able to make that work in next year's budget.
So he isn't sure why Winburn would pick his City Hall office to send callers to. He said Winburn called his office yesterday to tell him he was starting the automated calling. Berding said he returned Winburn's call, but never heard back from him.

Everyone knows why Winburn is targeting Berding....this should not come as a surprise. It was Berding who suggested to close the city health clinics & swimming pools in this year's budget to save money! Of course, the Republicans are going to come after him!!! Berding has made A LOT of enemies this past year & this Novemeber he will be surprised to discover he will NOT be re-elected. Go Winburn!
Wind-burn is not targeting bird-ling !
Comrades in arms !
Those wRong wingnut whackos have to stick together and plot behind closed doors !
bird-ling is upset that wind-burn failed to kiss the ring before this affair !
No wonder there is a sex scandal at city hall with all the heads-up going on !
Now, we know where the empty beer bottles came from !
bird-ling likes to get his lovers drunk first !
Just ask Cole, as she works the Poll !
bird-lings of feathers, flocking together !
We suspect the voters will scatter so fast, the three stooges will be left standing in the cold, with nothing but a wind-burn !
PATHETIC !
HAD ENOUGH, VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT 2007 !
Please God anybody but Winburn. Even Monzel before before Winburn.
Charlie Winburn has robo-called my house 12 times this summer. Though I am a registered Republican, no way would I vote for him.
you see, I live in Green Township. I've told both the Winburn campaign and the trust-fund babies at 700 Walnut, but no one can take the several seconds to delete one number from a list.
Winburn shouldn't leave Bortz out. Or is he backing Bortz' (R) nomination too?
Go Winburn!!
Typical wRong wingnut whacko, slinging the elephant dung HTML impersonation !
When the wRong wingnut "followers" have no ideas of their own, they just assume the ideas of "LEADERS" !
Thanks for playing follow the "LEADER" !
lol, lol, lol
PATHETIC !
I got a Winburn (or is it Windbag) robocall the other evening, as well as a Chabot robocall, and I don't even live in Chabot's district.
Anyone but Winburn and Malone!
This is what I like about Winburn, he exposes the foolishness running all over City Hall and takes people to task for their actions. Jeff Berding was instrumental in defunding the pools. He needs to be held accountable for that!
If people like Berding, Bortz, Crowley, and Ghiz would quit wasting money on giveaways to their campaign contributors the city could fund its functions. It cost $850,000 (according to a Channel 5 news report) to fully fund the pools all summer. Yet Berding, Bortz, Crowley, and Ghiz voted to give $800,000 to The Slave Center which isn't even owned by the city! To these guys its more important to give money to John Pepper's museum than it is to fund the city's pools which actually help the city's kids.
I got a robocall and thought "How nice of Charlie. How in the hell did he get my birthday?" That's the kind of personal privacy that Republicans are all about. Let's elect him and give him access to all my records.
Then again, I watched as Charlie waved obliviously from his car during Northside's 4th of July parade while 5 or 6 flamingly homosexual men freak-danced in his entourage behind him. It gave me absolute goosebumps. So Charlie knows my birthday, but not who is in his parade?
Matthew are you saying all men who can dance are homosexuals? Very enlightened of you.
