Sheriff: Don't sign those petitions

Guest blogger Cliff Peale reports:

Sheriff Si Leis was at the Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce annual meeting today at Music Hall. His message was loud and clear: don't sign those petitions calling for a vote on the new jail sales tax increase.

Leis told the crowd that there was a "jail crisis."

"If someone asks you to sign this petition, please don't sign it," he said. "Ask your friends not to sign it."

Look how sad Pat DeWine's effort is getting. When no one paid any attention to his video from last week (see blog below), he sent the following today to local news stations in a pathetic effort at self-promotion:

"Dear [news station],
I just wanted to share with you a video on the sales tax increase imposed
by my two Democratic colleagues on the Board of County Commissioners. You
can check it out by clicking on the link below.

Please feel free to share your thoughts with me on this very important
issue. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Pat DeWine

Translation:

"Listen, folks, I don't want to think 'out of the box' and do a challenging job I was hired to do by the taxpayers. I want you to pay for my phoney-baloney job and my expensive new country club, uh, jail. Don't force me to deal with a problem in creative ways - I'm an elected official."
