Many support senior services levy
The Hamilton County Council on Aging is seeking a levy in November that would raise $102 million over the next five years. It would fund the elderly services program, which helps about 8,000 seniors annually with day-to-day services that allow them to live independently in their homes for longer.
About two dozen people spoke at a public hearing Monday night on the issue.

The Hamilton County Tax Levy Review Committee is expected to make a recommendation on the levy in July. The amount of the levy has not been determined. It must ultimately be approved by county commissioners.

This is one important item Portune & Pepper won't want to tinker with.
Voters, this is pennies well spent on your tax bill. It helps your elderly parents & grandparents to live on their own in comfort & safety.
The Senior Citizens levy provides programming & assistance to all elderly, not just a selected segment in our city & county. Don't mistake this program for those free social services that flood City Hall every December who have no accountability & cannot produce success rates.
Every elderly person who registers with Council on Aging is screened & should be able to produce recommendations from their primary physician. Some programming is free & others are income-based, with very small monthly service fees.
The Senior Citizens Programs through Council on Aging helped me tremendously when I was the caregiver for my grandmother. The monthly bills didn't kill the household budget, either.
Please vote YES to keep the programs operational. It's pennies on your tax bill & you see the positive results each day, unlike other programs we're funding through some sort of tax.
Oh, no!!!! Another tax? How can we afford the extra pennies if we can't afford the extra HALF CENT for a desperately needed new jail???
They need to find some other way to pay for this. Oh, I know - build a senior wing at the new jail. Problem solved.
