Voinovich statement on Gonzalez

Sen. George Voinovich, R-Cleveland, today released the following statement on today's “no confidence” vote regarding Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez in the U.S. Senate:

As I have previously said, if I were president, I would have asked Alberto Gonzalez to resign as attorney general. The nation’s top cop ought to be spending his time on enforcing our laws, not explaining away the appearance of partisan political activities in his department. Today’s vote does nothing to rectify the current problem or ensure it doesn’t happen again. There are too many pressing issues we’re ignoring to deal with non-binding, partisan votes. Therefore, I will vote against the resolution.”

I'm not sure but I think that's about the best double - speak I've heard in a long time.
He opposes Gonzales but won't back it up with a vote

Sadly, this is yet another example of Senator Voinovich's straddle-the-fence position, on yet another issue. Either he supports Attorney General Gonzales as the head of the Justice Department or he does not. It appears he supports him, and all the taking-of- the -high -roadiness on his failure to support the condemnation resolution is hypocrisy.

actually george is very wrong and even his old rain coat won't keep him from getting soiled by his support for bush.

Time and time again, Alberto Gonzales has proven beyond a doubt his incompetence, misjudgment and lack of independence. He is profoundly unworthy to hold one of the highest and most important offices in the land. I urge my colleagues to support this resolution reflecting the facts before us. I urge Attorney General Gonzales to resign his office to allow America the chance to recover from his catastrophic tenure. If he does not, I urge President Bush to finally remove him.

its time for bush, cheney, gonzales and the rest of the fascists to go.
