Presidential debates: More than you need to know

Malia Rulon has a story coming over the weekend on what a presidential debate might mean for Cincinnati.

The University of Cincinnati hopes to host one in 2008; the Commission on Presidential Debates visited this week.

Meanwhile, here are the facts on past debates, (in Excel.)

Thank you Malia for your work on this Excel sheet.

I printed it out, only to discover I had left off column "K," which is the numbers of TV viewers for each debate (so I will go back and pencil it in)

Looking forward to reading your article this weekend.

If they come to Ohio, questions should be asked about the issue of civil rights of voters and how the candidates see this issue for '08. Ohio saw the blatant disenfranchisement of Af Am voters. We find out one of Rove's henchman, Timothy Griffin, responsible for disenfranchising Af Ams including those serving overseas in the military was rewarded for his despicable action by placing him as US Attorney for Arkansas (perhaps to dig for dirt on Hilary Clinton for '08). Now we hear he is under investigation:

Breaking: RF Kennedy, Jr. Says USA Griffin Under Investigation
by 4Freedom
Fri May 04, 2007

Tonight in Montpelier, Vermont, Greg Palast announced that he received a phone call this evening from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. that US Attorney replacement Timothy Griffin, Rove's former assistant, is under investigation for election fraud.

Palast published this on Griffin in March:

Timothy Griffin, Karl Rove’s assistant, the President’s pick as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Griffin, according to BBC Television, was the hidden hand behind a scheme to wipe out the voting rights of 70,000 citizens prior to the 2004 election.

Key voters on Griffin’s hit list: Black soldiers and homeless men and women.

Targeting voters where race is a factor is a felony crime under the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR OHIO VOTERS? READ THIS FROM REP JOHN CONYERS, CHAIRMAN OF THE HOUSE JUDICIARY:

Fixing America's Broken Elections
Rep. John Conyers, Jr.

My staff reviewed thousands of pages of primary source materials, including copies of actual ballots, voter registration databases, and poll books. They also met with several individuals having firsthand knowledge of irregularities. What they found indicated problems in multiple areas, from machine tampering and malfunction, to the intimidation and caging of minority voters in urban and rural areas, to the purposeful misallocation of voting machines and the unjustifiable restrictions that were placed on the use of provisional ballots.

HOPE THAT MR BLACKWELL AND HIS HENCHMEN ARE LOSING A LITTLE SLEEP! REMEMBER ALL THOSE LETTERS FROM MR. CONYERS HE REFUSED TO ANSWER AFTER THE '04 ELECTION? BET THEIR COMING BACK TO HAUNT HIM AND JUSTICE WILL BE SWEET-JUST ASK TOM NOE!
