Crowley Was Only Trying To Say .....

that the decision to parole - or not - convicted Cincinnati cop killer Roland Reaves should be left up to the Ohio Parole Board.

When Chris Monzel last week introduced a resolution to urge the parole authority to reject Reaves' request to get out early, David Crowley was the only one to vote against the idea (although Vice Mayor Jim Tarbell later said he had mixed feelings about his vote and had considered siding with Crowley).

Crowley didn't say he was in favor of letting Reaves out. He just said he wasn't in the best position to make the decision on whether Reaves - he shot Officer David Cole to death in 1974 - had been rehabilitated.

But colleague Jeff Berding blasted him after the meeting, questioning Crowley's morals and said the voted indicated a "warped value system."

Now, keep in mind Berding might be anti-Crowley lately, ever since Berding suspected his fellow Democrat of trying to push precinct leaders to vote against endorsing him for November. The party ultimately voted Berding onto the endorsement list anyway.

The two square off again today in Pete Bronson's column. Click here to read it.

bird-ling needs to dance with the party that brought him, PERIOD !

After one year in "ELECTED" office, bird-ling's inflated self-worth ego (for a meager existence) has convinced himself that he has the skills to surpass Hon. Crowley !

lol, lol, lol

bird-ling needs to take a good-hard look in the mirror because the voters do not care about his support from other elected pundits !

They have their own motives and it is not because he is doing what is best for the voters !

So, when you go to the "Poll" just vote "NO" on the "fascist five" !

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2007 !

VOTE NO, FOR DINO !

Crowley's been around too long to do something this stupid.

I think it's safe to say that even if they rehab and find a better path, someone who shoots a Cincinnati police officer should be in prison for life--no ifs, ands or buts.

I haven't read Bronson in over a year - he is as ridiculous as listening to Bill Cunningham spewing hatred, showing his ignorance and unbridled, egotistical one-mindness that you see only in cults.

No thanks - I don't waste my time anymore with the likes of Bronson or Cunningham - they're way below the bar of interesting or being informative.

The Enquirer can switch up their paper, enhance their internet presense but as long as they don't counter the Bronson's of the world ( and keep putting Cunningham and COAST) on the front page when their are reasoned minds and ingenuity out there - they're just re-arranging the deck chairs on the TItanic in their editorial influence

I think Howard reported that the endorsement vote was 64 to 59 ? If memory correct, than 48% voted against Jeff. If the Democratic voters follow that same pattern then Berding is toast, like COAST.

Berding has some nerve.

Just weeks after he was sent a VERY CLEAR message that Democrts are fed up with his antics...

he's not attacking probably the most loved Democrat in the City...David Crowley, who has stood for the foundations of the Democratic party since he was elected.

Pro-Labor
Pro-Equality for all
Pro-Cincinnati
Pro-People
That's Crowley

Berding, here's the message. We know you have lots of money, we know that without that money you would have no power...but don't think we're not going to do everything we can to stop you.

I'm a Democrat. I would have voted with the majority. I don't agree with Crowley on this issue. That cop-killer shouldn't get parole. But what I hate are little DLC weasels like Berding who bash other Democrats to get in the newspaper. You disagree with Crowley--fine, so do I. But saying he has a "warped values system" is going too far. You say you're a Democrat, Berding, but you seem to have nothing but contempt for the other Dems on council and the Democratic grassroots.

I will vote for Crowley in November. I will NEVER vote for Berding.

Is it just me, or do others think Berding has a complex because of his looks.

I think he tries to compensate for his lack of good looks by attacking and having power over others.

I don't think Dave Crowley will be visiting the FOP for an endorsement this year. Money says he won't get it. I'd be Crowley, I'd step aside, retire, move to Boca Raton & play golf for the balance of his days.

Rehab only works when a criminal truly wants to change their lifestyle. They have to get a tough countenance & backbone to face the challenges & temptations everyday for the rest of their lives. Sadly, the bulk of the criminals in the joint, the jail & out on the streets see criminality as their way of life & they're too weak & stupid to change.

Yes !

Crowley's brand of foolishness is what drives most decent people to the Republicans... Reminds me of when his buddy, Jack Gilligan, stood up for the rioters in 1967.
Incredibly stupid. Berding's point is well taken: Crowley wants to tell the Generals how to fight the war in Iraq but he doesn't want to advise the parole board, naturally
being unable to respond the Crowley backers attack Berding personally. Typical.

Berding may be unattractive, but lets try to stick to real points/differing opinions, etc.

As much as I hate Berding, at least he is not as worthless as Crowley. In addition, he has enough class not to give out Crowley's private cell number. See http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/gov/2005_11_27_default.asp
