Heimlich's an expert now

He’s out of a job.

He (hint hint) may want more exposure to take on fellow Republican, Congresswoman Jean Schmidt.

He had nothing better to do.

He was asked.

Those are the reasons former Hamilton County Commissioner Phil Heimlich agreed to become a “legal expert” for WCPO television as it covers the Liz Carroll murder trial in Clermont County.

“I’m still thinking about what I’m going to do,” Heimlich said Monday night, moments after he appeared live on Channel 9 to give his expertise on the jury selection for the Liz Carroll trial in Batavia.

Carroll is accused of murder in the death of her foster son, Marcus Fiesel.

Heimlich hasn’t had a job since the incumbent Republican was ousted by Democratic challenger David Pepper.

Heimlich, who sounded in a good mood, said he was more than qualified to serve as a legal expert with his 9½ years as an assistant Hamilton County prosecutor, where he prosecuted some capital cases.

He wasn’t real talkative, though, when it was suggested he was serving as an expert in Clermont County -- in the heart of Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District – as part of that uncertain future.

That district, which stretches from eastern Hamilton County east to beyond Portsmouth, now is held by Jean Schmidt, R-Miami Township.

Heimlich has been rumored to be interested in a possible primary race against Schmidt since before he lost his commission seat.

“I’m working on a few things,” Heimlich said of his future, without being specific.

Some see Schmidt’s seat as vulnerable even though she has staved off two challenges by Democrats in the last two years.

Phil Heimlich as a legal expert is A COMPLETE AND UTTER JOKE!! The guy was a terrible lawyer and his time as a district attorney is well-known to have been laughable.

Channel 9 is being hoodwinked by this guy much the same way the voters were for years--until they got smart in 2006!

Phil, you had your chance to run against Jean, but instead you decided to try for Lieutenant Governor. Which by the way, was one of the worst political moves in recent history. Then you lose the commissionership to a rich papa’s boy. You don’t have enough support to beat Jean, and if Hackett declares, you won’t beat him either.
Further, there are some concerning questions about your ability as a candidate. You can raise the funds, but your cabal of advisors have you campaigning like it’s 1992 and you seem incapable of escaping their influence.
Step aside Phil and let a better suited candidate challenge Jean, or else we will lose another Southern Ohio seat to a democrat.

Heimlich a "legal expert"? That's a bad joke and if it turns out Death Row Joe took the wrong path, how independent can he be?

heimlich belongs in jail for his and all other Repugnicants criminal negligence of our foster children.

Explain why the party would want Heimlich to challenge Schmidt after he lost what was the safest Republican seat in Southern Ohio to Pepper? Heimlich is a proven loser. The voters are fed up with him-his temper tantrums, his COAST pals, and his sleazy inside deals. Even his cronies won't hire him-maybe they figure he'll have his hand in the till.

If he runs against Schmidt, he would only damage the incumbent and help get a Democrat elected. Let's see this spoiled brat get a job and stop leeching off the public dime. It would be a novelty.

Heimlich beat Schmidt? HA! He'd get creamed. However, he'd probably damage her enough to cause the seat to go Democrat. Those misogynistic COAST clowns (Brinkman and Heimlich) would rather have the seat go Democrat than be held by a woman from Clermont County.

COAST is anti-Republican

Sorry, WCPO, I'll be turning the channel rather than have to see Heimlich. Doesn't WCPO realize the voters REJECTED Heimlich?

Here's the problem with WCPO hiring (paying?) Heimlich - he is a politician by trade - giving him this "spot' gives him a significant advantage in any race in may chose to run in, in the futureBUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, it calls into serious question the INTEGRITY of WCPO for both their past and future reporting of any issue Heimlich and his COAST croonies are involved in.

On a personal note: Heimlich didn't understand why appointing his business partner to the Drake board and the taxlevy review committee while he ran the campaign against that faiclity, he didn't understand ( or respect) the law regarding conflicts of interest, self dealing or abuse of office-- why in the world would WCPO hire a man of such littleintegrity, of such little public support and likeability and who was ran out of office because he lacked integrity

Geez, that did it for me and Channel 9 - I like Rob better anyway!!!!!!

I've been so busy working in healthcare these past few months, that I've hardly had time to think about 2008.

One thing that I do know for sure...

Southern Ohio doesn't need another politician running against Jean Schmidt. Southern Ohio needs somebody who comes from outside of politics. Southern Ohio needs somebody who has the vision, energy and ability to solve the American healthcare financing crisis that is right around the corner. Southern Ohio needs somebody who cares more about you and your family than all of the politicians in Washington.

The next time I run for Congress, I am going to ask for endorsements. The next time I run for Congress, I'm going to ask for the endorsement of 15,000 Democrats before the primary and 25,000 Republicans if I win.

Get ready for a type of politics that is totally unfamiliar to the political powers that be. Get ready for a man who wants to solve the problems of America. Get ready for a man who will speak from the heart to thousands of people who live from Pike and Scioto Counties all the way to Cincinnati and back and back and back again!

The next time I run for Congress, I am going to be everywhere.

The next time I run for Congress, my plan is to win... Not for me, for YOU!

Ironic that Heimlich was hired by WCPO to report on a child abuse case. When he was a commissioner, Heimlich set up a task force to protect parents from child abuse allegations.

Check out this 2004 Enquirer article. The father in the article, Michael Thomas, is a longtime person friend of Heimlich's. What a surprise, Phil Heimlich, using a personal friend to help push his political agenda.

Stop and think, people. Everyone knows how difficult it is to encourage people to report these cases. What kind of person wants to make it more difficult for the public to report child abuse?

Kimball Perry or Julie Engebrecht -

Would you please contact WCPO, find out which executive is responsible for hiring Heimlich, and post here as an update?

When Phil Heimlich's bosom buddy and partner, Christopher Finney, one of the two founders of COAST along with Tom Brinkman, patted his butt and cursed enthusiastically and loudly in front of the local news media, Phil's ill-fated campaign against Pepper went into the dumper. I think his political career did, too. If Phil runs against Congresswoman Jean Schmidt in 2008, he'll be defeated, again. And I will do my very best to see to it. Whoever COAST throws against Congresswoman Jean Schmidt in the primary will get beaten. Then we can concentrate on clobbering whatever hapless member of the Jackass party they trot out to face her. Ah, life is good!

curtis fuller should file a discrimination suit against cpo tv now that he "has knowledge" that his firing from that station was purely due to his race or policitcal affiliatioins.

How can they remove him after a failed run for public office and retain heimlich who is known to have continuing political aspirations?

because he is white and his political leanings are right.

wcpo really stepped into it this time --

It's seweeps season - turn the station and refuse to watch Channel 9 news as long as they have Heimlich or any political figure anticipating running for office - on the air

I am always dismayed, yet never surprised, when election losers NEVER find meaningful work--they merely hide in the bushes waiting for another political campaign to come along. The idea of professional politicians is repugnant.
By the way, I was a Heimlich fan UNTIL his first option to build a new jail was to RAISE TAXES!

Maybe Phil Heimlich will ask his buddy Joe Deters why he gave immunity to the killer Amy Baker. I am sure Phil will be able to give some insight about how things are done in the backrooms. Phil Heimlich needs to get a life and accept the fact he doesn't matter anymore.

Today, as busy as I was, I stopped to help an elderly man and woman find their way to an Ocnologist's office. They asked for the Doctor by name, and I immediately knew why they were there.

At least one of them, anyhow. After I showed them the way and made sure they knew the route by elevator and not by stairs, I could not help but wonder if they had been together as many years as it seemed as it appeared. I prayed that they would have many more happy and healthy years together, free from health problems, free from harm.

Someday, I will be your Congressman and I will save Medicare for millions of Americans like the two people that I had the privilege to meet today.

The reason that I keep explaining that I will reach out to Republicans just like I am reaching out to Democrats is twofold:

1) Democrats alone cannot win the 2nd District - The numbers of registered Democrats just aren't there. The strategy that we have been trying in the 2nd district for almost 40 years just isn't working.

2) No significant longlasting piece of legislation has ever been passed by the United States Congress without bipartisan support. I will lead, not only Southern Ohio, but also America to a new and better future.

I am honored to have this incredible opportunity in my life to try to be the voice of every senior citizen, every child and every decent person in America. With effort and belief in my mission to save Medicare, I will eventually succceed and millions of people will benefit from my painstaking efforts throughout the years.

Future Democratyic Candidate for US Congress
Southern Ohio - 2nd District

Why in the world would WCPO want to be associated with this classless act?

He was ran outof office and they think that'll help their ratings?

Not well thought out - but, at least it's controversial - maybe quality isn't the issue, just ratings ($$$$)

Parker,

For a guy that likes to tout his OU degrees as being something “special” you sure talk a lot of smack. Your ego can’t even fit on this message board. You are one of the biggest tools I’ve ever seen. There is NO WAY in the world you will ever be a Congressman. Get over it and run for the Waverly city council or something.

Is that you THOR?

Thinking about spending $40,000 worth of other people's money again and LOSING?

Jim Parker has been out knocking on Democrats doors in Hamilton County three nights a week after work. He sat in our living room for ten minutes and answered all of our questions. My wife and I will vote for him the next time he runs. The United States Congress needs more people like Jim Parker from Waverly, Ohio.

Jim, no matter what these awful people say, don't give up. What you are doing is what America needs. You've got our votes Jim Parker!
