Who's that man behind Bush?

TV viewers watching President Bush walk into the U.S. House chamber for his State of the Union address tonight got a full view of local Rep. John Boehner, who sauntered into the chamber right behind the president.

Boehner, of West Chester, is the House Republican Leader. He was followed by Senate Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and other House and Senate leaders.

But it was Boehner, sporting his trademark green tie, who got the most face time during the president's entrance.

And also Rep. Jean Schmidt. The Miami Township Republican, wearing her trademark hair bow, which matched her maroon and tan suit, snagged an aisle seat so she could greet the president.

She also hugged Boehner, smacking a kiss on his cheek.

Were no elected Democrats from Ohio at the State of the Union? More and more, I have the impression this blog is an arm of the Ohio Repuplican Party.

THE PRESIDENT JUST ASKED CONGRESS TO INSTITUTE A DRAFT - AND NOBODY SEES IT!

See the speech excert below - the line about add to the ranks of the military... increasing active troops to 92,000 within five years?

One of the first steps we can take together is to add to the ranks of our military – so that the American Armed Forces are ready for all the challenges ahead. Tonight I ask the Congress to authorize an increase in the size of our active Army and Marine Corps by 92,000 in the next five years. A second task we can take on together is to design and establish a volunteer Civilian Reserve Corps. Such a corps would function much like our military reserve. It would ease the burden on the Armed Forces by allowing us to hire civilians with critical skills to serve on missions abroad when America needs them. And it would give people across America who do not wear the uniform a chance to serve in the defining struggle of our time.

I believe Congress only has the authority to fund the military through appropriations and expand the size of the military - when recruiting is at its max and their is no financial impediment to that recruitment -is through a draft.

It is not a coincidence that the next point is to have a "volunteer" corp - as opposed to his immediately prior statement - which would not be volunteer.

Somebody who know more than I do abut the constitutional powers of Congreess tell me I am wrong -- I have two teenage sons who would turn 18 in 1 year and 3 years, respectively.

Good Morning Cincinnati. Good Morning to all of the people who live and raise their families in Southern Ohio. My name is JIM PARKER and I ran for the United States House of Representatives in the 2nd Congressional District 2 times during the last 2 years (2005 special primary election and 2006 primary). I did not win either of those elections but the second time that I ran for Congress, I knocked on the doors of thousands of families who live in Southern Ohio with the hopes that I would someday be their Congressman. And thousands of you did vote for me on election day. You can look at our website for the rest of the story...

http://jimparker4ad.blogspot.com/

Last night, I listened intently as President George Bush gave his State of the Union speech. I thought back to how I publicly challenged Jean Schmidt and Bob McEwen to a debate on HEALTHCARE, the ECONOMY and the WAR in IRAQ. I also thought back to how Jean Schmidt completely ignored my repeated offer to discuss her stance on these three incredibly important challenges of our times.

Those of you who know me know that I have spent my life in healthcare management positions for almost 20 years. You know that I have been the Assistant Administrator of 2 hospitals for 10 of those years. You know that I know what Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security means to the people who need those programs the most. And you know that I am capable of saving Medicare for millions of Americans (especially the Baby Boomers who are facing a future where Medicare will be out of money. Unfortunately, we are represented by a government that doesn't know what to do about it...)

During my campaigns for Congress:

I repeatedly expressed my opposition to the privatization of Social Security and Medicare.

I proposed a plan to expand Medicare from age 65 down to age 55 WITHOUT RAISING TAXES.

I proposed healthcare coverage for EVERY CHILD in the United States of AMerica WITHOUT RAISING TAXES.

I proposed that the Medicare Prescription Drug Program be permitted to negotiate lower prices with the pharmaceutical companies of this nation.

I expressed my opposition to the Medicare Advantage Program which has funneled millions of dollars from Medicare into the bank accounts of private insurance companies.

Last night, I saw the President unfold his "healthcare plan". Rather than state my position here so that our Congresswoman can read it, I'd like to discuss it with her IN PERSON AND IN PUBLIC. I am not running for Congress right now and have not decided if I will run in 2008 or 2010. But I can't just sit back and watch this whole thing unfold without standing up for those things in which I so deeply believe; May God protect the future of Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

I hope that she will take the time to listen to my ideas about how Democrats and Republicans can work together to save these programs. But, I am almost certain that she will ignore my invitation just like she did before... Instead, her constituents will probably receive an e-mail with some language in it that prepared by the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee or some other group...

Forgive me for this long statement, but I can't just sit back and watch the beginning of the end and quietly ignore what is happening to millions of people in our country.

I have one question for you... If you are 50 years old and are looking forward to retirement someday, "Do you really believe thar Medicare will be there for you just like it was for your parents and grandparents before you?"

Help JIM PARKER reach 15,000 Democratic families who live in Southern Ohio's 2nd Congressional District. Cut and paste the following link and share it with EVERYBODY that you know.

If I ever manage to win a Democratic primary in Southern Ohio's 2nd District... You will have yourself a Congressman who will be on a mission to protect Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security "FOR YOU FOREVER". Thank you.

I am proud to have tried to represent so many of you in the United States Congress these past few years. Someday, I will try again.

The FishwRap is nothing more than the propaganda printing press for the wRong wingnut whackos !

It is no wonder why the fishwRap bottom line is falling faster than soldiers in Iraq ?

Don't look to the fishwRap for news. Look to the fishwrap for "folley fondling" groping old pedophiles (gop) elephant dung talking points !

PATHETIC !

Anonymous at 10:43pm, 1/23, I want to encourage you to continue your insane comments on this and every other blog you can get to. Be certain each time to associate your comments with the Democrat party. You give a whole new level of meaning to the old expression that goes: the inmates are running the asylum. If my GOP isn't paying you to post your enthusiastic blather, we should be. You are one of the best advertisements we could possibly have for not voting for the Dems. Thanks, and keep it coming!

Keep spewing the elephant dung propaganda !

While you sit back and hide, we'll change the country !

Misleading the country is working well for the wRong wingnut whackos !

"...You give a whole new level of meaning to the old expression that goes: the inmates are running the asylum...."

We want to thank the wRong wingnut whacko misleaders for making their favorite publication the whiselblower

The "blower" summed mean jean, a.k.a TLPMB, this way:

"...Then TLPMB tried to give John Boehner a boner when she planted a big wet one on him. “Thank God she didn’t use her damn tongue again,” the GOP Minority Leader said. (It’s like we always say, if you can’t improve on the news, why bother to report it.)

Thank you for reinforcing our argument !

Now maybe colon rink-a-dink-a do do, a.k.a. TNP, can now sit outside, stalking the misleaders to serve them with frivolous legal proceedings and stay off the blogs !

PATHETIC !

Dear Anonymous Parent Concerned About a DRAFT,

I admire your willingness to read the detail and to pay close attention to the words that were used in the President's speech the other night. I sure hope that you live in the 2nd District and that you are a Democrat who votes in primary elections. If you want a Congressman who doesn't rubber stamp the President's plan for just about everything without even reading it, then you need to vote for somebody like me.

Please take 2 minutes to cut and paste the following link and scan our webpage:

http://jimparker4ad.blogspot.com/

Then, send it to 1,000 people who care and live in the 2nd District of Southern Ohio - Adams, Brown, Clermont, (eastern) Hamilton County, Pike, Scioto, and (southern) Warren County OHIO. Thanks.

Right now I am not running for Congress, but someday, AGAIN... I WILL. Our Congresswoman and I have different views on the strategy in Iraq.

My question to her is, "How can she wholeheartedly support the President's strategy in Iraq AND Iran but, at the same time, be opposed to a military draft? The two go hand in hand."

The President led us into battle under false (or at least mistaken) pretenses. There is NO exit strategy and now he wants to increase troop size. This is unbelievable!

HONESTLY - I am growing tired of typing comments to people who aren't responding and I am almost ready to hold a press conference in Hamilton County to announce that I am going to knock on the doors of 15,000 Democratic families who live in Southern Ohio before the next primary...

I can NOT sit quietly back and watch Medicare and Social Security disintegrate AND watch young American soldiers continue to die on the battlefields of Iraq (and eventually Iran) without trying to stop these things that are so wrong in our society.

If I make it to 15,000 people's homes in the 2nd District, I can win this election for you and then we can begin to solve people's problems. The last time I ran for Congress, I almost won... We can do this but I need your help...

May God Bless EVERY PARENT who has lost or who stands a chance of losing a child to the war in Iraq these next few years. I am so sorry for what our government has done to you.

Jim Parker
Former Democratic Candidate for US Congress
Southern Ohio - 2nd District - 2005 & 2006...
