Bye bye Madden

Kevin Madden, the "beautiful" spokesman for House Majority Leader John Boehner - who will be minority leader next year - is hitting the road after less than a year on the job.

Madden told the press corps via e-mail that tomorrow would be his last day with Boehner, a West Chester Republican. He's headed to the yet-to-be-announced presidential campaign of Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican.

"I'll be moving on to join Governor Mitt Romney's political team as the 'national press secretary-in waiting' (as news reports described it) should Gov. Romney decide to decide to run for president," Madden said in the e-mail.

Some Cincinnati Enquirer readers might remember Madden from his work in 2004 as President Bush's spokesman in Ohio. Madden also has worked as press secretary for the Department of Justice and former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

If Madden had any sense of decency, he would turn state's evidence and help Boehner get indicted as an accessory to both the murder of Marcus Feisel and the criminal sexual misconduct that Mark Foley committed against countless underage boys.

What is it about Republicans that allow them to tolerate sexual abuse and murder of young boys?

Perfect example of what Democrats have to offer. Hate.

Explain how exactly it is that you seem to think a Federal Representative with no jurisdiction over a County agency can possibly be responsible for that horrific crime. No one in the US House of Senate has any control over a County agency. The County agencies are controlled by that County's Commissioners. Federal Reps can only control Federal Agencies. That's why you have state and local governments.

I can't wait to hear this load of twisted logic.

Anon 9:38 PM,

there is no "twisted logic" to this. Obviously, you concede my point on Foley, since you did not address it. That alone should be enough for Teflon John to spend the rest of his life sharing a cell with someone just as sick as Mark Foley.

Regarding Marcus, I guess you don't know that the state and local governments receive Federal Funding for foster-care, which includes placement assistance. Had the Reugnicant-led Congress required that counties that receive Federal funding conduct criminal background and credit checks on potential foster parents, and set minimally acceptable standards. Marcus Feisel would not have gone to the Carrolls. But then again, Deathway For Kids would not have received their taxpayer money for the placement and they would have then been unable to kick back to Teflon John.

Boehner and every other Republican wanted to keep that gravy train flowing, so they didn't do anything to protect the children.

Tom Noe went to jail for bilking the state out of $50 million in Coingate, and that wasn't even taxpayer money, it was corporate premiums that he stole.

The foster-care system is even more scandalous.

Malia seems pretty smitten with this guy. Do I sense a little sexual tension in the air.

Anon 9:26, you are simply wrong. Federal money may be block granted out to the states for various programs, but it is up to the states to pass it out and then the local governments to have oversight. Thats like claiming that somehow the National Education Association is implicit in all those teachers having sex with their students because we all know that money from the Federal Government goes to education.

Foley was investigated and no charges brought against him. If no charges are brought against he who committed the crime, why would charges be brought against someone who wasn't even directly involved?

Do these points escape you, or are you so blindly partisan that you can't think straight? There is no logic to your claims.

Anon 2:28 PM,

Which Republican elected official do you work for? And why are you on this blog when you are on taxpayer time?

Who else would twist and spin on behalf of Teflon John or any other slimeball Repugnicant?

First of all, the National Education Association is a union, not a Federal agency. I assume you meant the Department of Education.

Either way, to carry out your analogy, *it is illegal for teachers to have sex with students.* (Go back and re-read the previous sentence, because it's important for everyone reading this to understand that point.) When teachers are found out, they lose their jobs, and, when appropriate, they go to jail.

It was not illegal, nor was it against any established policy, for the Carrolls to take in Marcus Feisel. It should have been. People who work with foster children, and the few politicians who understand (and all happen to be Democrats, sorry to burst your bubble) have known for DECADES that minimum standards needed to be in place for foster parents.

At a minimum, they should at least have a criminal background check done. We can debate as to what sorts of crimes would be disqualifying, but I think we can agree that a criminal background at least needs to be done.

Also, since they are being given taxpayer dollars, they should have a credit check to determine their ability to provide for the kids. The government requires more documentation from their paper clip supplier than they do for people to watch their children. (Yes, as a foster child, when the government removes you from your home, you are the government's responsibility.) Again, we can debate about what a minimum credit rating should be, but I think we can agree that one should be done.

Every elected official at the Federal, State, and COunty level knew that just about anyone could be a foster parent. They could have tightened up the standards. They chose not to.

Instead, they chose to line their pockets with above-the-table campaign contributions and countless under-the-table kickbacks, from multi-millionaires bilking the taxpayers.

These companies were paid obscene amounts of money for these placements, taking licensed professionals' jobs. In turn, these corporations paid off the politicians who allowed them to fleece the taxpayer.

Nearly every Republican has received money, overtly or covertly, from these monsters. This money flows into the party coffers as well and taints every Republican from Taft to the Backwoods Township Dog Catcher.

As for Foley, he was "cleared" by a white-washing group of GOP hacks. He is hardly clean. Boehner knows it.

YOU PROVED MY POINT! IT'S THE LOCAL AUTHORITES WHO CARRY OUT JUSTICE ON THE LOCAL LEVEL UNDER LOCAL JURISDICTION! The Feds don't control County agencies!!!

"Every elected official at the Federal, State, and COunty level knew that just about anyone could be a foster parent. They could have tightened up the standards. They chose not to."

Go back and re-learn your Civics. We do have this thing called The Constitution. It prohibits the Federal Govt. from doing anything outside of its parameters, including taking over jurisdiction of a state or local agency.

"It was not illegal, nor was it against any established policy, for the Carrolls to take in Marcus Feisel. It should have been. People who work with foster children, and the few politicians who understand (and all happen to be Democrats, sorry to burst your bubble) have known for DECADES that minimum standards needed to be in place for foster parents."

Then WHY DIDNT DEMOCRATS DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? Prior to 1994, they controlled the House for 40 years and the Senate for most of that time as well. If its so easy as the Feds doing it, and it's a "decades" long problem, why wasnt it fixed during the Carter years? He is quite the moral authority, what with his rampant anti-semitism.

"Instead, they chose to line their pockets with above-the-table campaign contributions and countless under-the-table kickbacks, from multi-millionaires bilking the taxpayers."

Proof? Source? Or just a fabricated straw man used to bolster your weak argument that shows a clear non-understanding of the US Constitution.

"Nearly every Republican has received money, overtly or covertly, from these monsters. This money flows into the party coffers as well and taints every Republican from Taft to the Backwoods Township Dog Catcher."

Source? Proof? Lets see it. All campaign money is open records.

"As for Foley, he was "cleared" by a white-washing group of GOP hacks. He is hardly clean. Boehner knows it. "

So, you know what Boehner knows? You've had conversations with him? You were in the meetings? Share with us your intimate knowledge. Truly this must make for an enormous scoop. Don't hold back! You apparently know more than the reporters, the investigators and the staffers. I can't wait to hear how your trip to DC was.

"Which Republican elected official do you work for? And why are you on this blog when you are on taxpayer time?"

Hate to burst your bubble, but I'm a private citizen working in the private sector. I just happen to be educated and understand simple 8th grade civics that there are different levels of govt for a reason.

Your argument has been reduced to "They're all guilty. You're repugnant." Its a pathetic argument and glad to see you kept away from the name calli.....oh wait, there it is right in your first sentence.

Take it to the Daily Kos or DU where this type of drivel stimulates the Communists and hippies.

I enjoy watching hateful Democrates bickering with peace, love, & understanding Republicans.

I long for the day when Demorcrats & Republicans will fight each other in the streets like Sunni & Shi'a. Hopefully with similar results.

Only then can we subterranean Constitutionalists emerge like blinking Morlocks to feast on the corpse of the old order and rebuild with it's bones the new.

Anon 7:59 PM,

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.

Since I am not in that wealthiest 1%, I have to work my tail off just ot make ends meet. Getting paid is always a real eye-opener. I always love seeing how much of my money the Repugnicants in Columbus and Washington are taking from me to pay off their cronies.

Anyhoo, you give a decent elementary civics lesson with that whole "Separation of Powers" thing. Glad to see you paid attention in school and that your parents didn't buy your grades, which is how most Republicans get through school.

In Advanced Civics, or even in the real world, the truth comes out: Congress gets their paws into every facet of our lives via Federal funding. Any organization that receives Federal funding must comply with.... pretty much whatever Congress feels like making it comply with.

Perfect example: the .08 BAC DUI standard. Congress simply witholds Federal transportation money from states which do not have it. Lo and behold, here we go, all 50 states now have a .08 standard. Rightly or wrongly, that's how it got done.

They could have used the same logic with block grants, and in many elements they have. Except they never did it with foster-care reform. Could have. Should have. Did not.

The state reps and senators could have done the same thing with state funding going to foster care. Could have. Should have. Did not.

Congressmen knew about Foley's perverted habits. Page after page after page complained. They could have done something about. Could have. Should have. Did not.

Apparently, the Repugnicants in WAshington think it is wrong to "kill an unborn child" but acquiesce in killing chiildren or sexually abusing them.

Next time a 3-year-old is murdered, tell your Republican buddies it was a "14th-trimester abortion." That might spur them to action.

Next time a Repugnicant Congressman abuses a teenager, think of the teenager as a 52nd-trimester fetus. Maybe that'll sink in.
