Wulsin in DC, Cranley not

The Ohio Republican Party sent out a press release this morning blasting several Ohio Democrats - John Cranley, Charlie Wilson, Mary Jo Kilroy and Zack Space - for being invited to Washington today to “schmooze” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and “liberal special interest groups.”

“These Democrats are showing their true colors as they mingle with Nancy Pelosi and other liberal leaders at fancy fundraisers in Washington,” Ohio Republican Party spokesman John McClelland said.

But Cranley's campaign manager, Elliott Ruther, said that isn't so.

“Like a lot of things, the GOP has it wrong again. John is in the 1st District,” he said in an e-mail. Cranley, a Cincinnati city councilman, is running against Republican Rep. Steve Chabot. City Council meets today at 2 p.m.

We aren't sure whether Wilson, Kilroy or Space are in Washington or Ohio today. But we do know that Democrat Victoria Wulsin, who is challenging Republican Rep. Jean Schmidt in the 2nd District, is in Washington today.

According to Wulsin's campaign, the Indian Hill doctor has several meetings in Washington today, including a sit-down with Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean, and two evening fundraisers.

UPDATE (because you asked):

Wulsin will be at Tortilla Coast on Capitol Hill from 5-7 p.m. tonight for a fundraiser hosted by 11 Democrats, including Ohio Reps. Sherrod Brown and Ted Strickland, who are running for the U.S. Senate and governor. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., whom Schmidt called out on the House floor in a fiery "cowards cut and run, Marines never do" speech, also is a host. Cost: $200-$1,000.

She'll then head to a private home for a 7-8:30 p.m. fundraiser. Cost: $50 to $200.

Vicky, Why don't you raise money and campaign here at home!! Why are you in DC at all?? Looking for a lobbiest job?? Go see Bob.
Second district wants someone to represent our concerns, not some DC big wigs that throw money your way.
Why don't you run your whole campaign from DC ???
Hey why don't you run for office up there!!! I'm sure it would be easier to get elected up there in DC.

Maybe Dr. Vic's in DC promoting "Immunotherapy"?

Haha I looked at her fundraisers. She's having one at a favorite happy hour hangout for capitol hill-ions. A mexican food joint that would probably need to lobby the health department more than some hopeful Congresspersons. As a matter of fact, on a busy evening you can almost be sure to find puke somewhere in the restrooms. Good ole' Vic, hanging out at the real top spots in the District.

I wish Malia would comment on the locations of Vic's fundraisers. It's comical, really.

Two words will make anyone vote for Mean Jean: Speaker Pelosi.

Remember, Vic wants to grant citizenship to all of the "illegal" immigrants. Maybe she is starting at her Taco Bell fundraiser by granting citizenship to all of the illegal employees.

Well I meant more of the atmosphere. How it costs at least $150 more to attend the Mexican joint than the beautiful NW home near Wisconsin Ave. Stay busy today Malia, we want to hear it all!

As she promised in the paper, I hope that she went to DC on her bike. A plane has air conditioning -- Vic is against that-- and a plane uses fule.

You people are the biggest losers. Are you still sore because Mean Jean is not receiving any invitations to political events? I almost forget, she only receives invitations to appear on Saturday Night Live and The Ohio Elections Commission. GET A LIFE YOU LOSERS!

Money doesn't win elections; people do. And of the nearly 650,000 people who live in our Congressional District, many of them will not be voting for Jean Schmidt. More than 20,000 Republicans voted for Bob McEwen earlier this year. Even the White House knows this to be true.

I know many of the people who live in the 2nd District of Ohio. I've personally been to thousands of your homes. There are thousands of Republicans who live in Southern Ohio who would be willing to vote for the right Democrat. I know this because lots of Republicans have told me this since May 2005 (the first time that I ran for Congress).

So Vic is trying to raise a couple bucks to put up some more signs or run an ad or two on TV. So what... She doesn't have the ability to hold a multi-hundred thousand dollar fundraiser in one night like her opponent or many of the politicians who represent us in Washington now. That means she has more in common with most of the people who live in our Congressional District than her opponent ever will...

I see alot of personal negative attacks against Doctor Wulsin on this site and truly do not appreciate what I've been reading. Most of it looks like cheap shots to me.

Doctor Wulsin is a good person. She has raised an honorable family. She has worked her way through life and has selected a career in the honorable profession of healthcare. She isn't running for Congress because she has lots of free time on her hands or because she has some money to burn. She's running for Congress to make a difference in many people's lives; to make our country stronger; to fight for the American Dream for many who do not have the opportunity to fight for themselves...

She deserves to win in November 2006. America has had enough of the hatred, the division, the Congress that only looks to the people who write the biggest checks. We are lucky to have Doctor Wulsin trying to represent us in Washington DC. I hope that she is successful.

I know one thing... I know that if Vic Wulsin is elected, that you will never have to worry about whether your Congresswoman is representing you or an oil company.

I know that she will fight to save Medicare (a program that has helped millions but is being given away to the insurance companies of America faster than I can write this message).

I know (and this is coming from a Roman Catholic Democrat) that women and children and people who work for a living will have better representation in Washington than they do now.

I know that not one moment will ever pass where the safety of the American people and the safety of every American soldier isn't at the top of Doctor Wulsin's agenda.

I know that, under Vic Wulsin's leadership, that America will never be for sale to the highest bidder. Can anybody honestly say that this isn't happening right now? Just look at who is donating to your current Congress.

You and your family, Democrat, Republican, Independent (it doesn't matter)... You and your family have the power to change America and the power to change the world. If you think that your vote doesn't matter, believe me, there are many people who want you to think that because they know that your one vote can change the world. Make sure you vote for an honorable person on election day.

I will be voting for Doctor Victoria Wulsin in November 2006. I hope that you will do the same.

Former Candidate for US Congress

2005 and 2006

Of all the things I hope will change this November it's the pervasive culture of intolerance and ignorance. Remarks such as "A mexican food joint that would probably need to lobby the health department . . . [or] you can almost be sure to find puke somewhere in the restrooms" don't add much to the discussion.

Jim Parker's retarded. Money does win elections.

Go hug a tree and Dr. Vicky.

Get over it, son! You're a nobody!

Commenting on the fact that Vic is not in some classy DC restaurant on K street and pointing out that she's at a dive bar on the Hill is helpful to the discussion to let everyone realize what the Enquirer's reporting. I thought I described T-coast pretty well personally, have you been there? You may agree.

Jim - GO AWAY!

Elliot Ruther does his best to warp the facts by saying John will be in Cincy, but the release blasts him for being "invited". Nice try Elliot.

I was at T-Coast last night and the description on an earlier post is correct. Vic'd fundraiser was a bust. Very few people showed. I doubt if she covered her airfare to DC. I did see and an Enquirer reporter with Vic. It will be interesting to hear her comments on the event.

This just shows you what type of people Jean has supporting her. You people really need to find a job, get a life and stop being so worried about Vic.

If you think that Jean Schmidt holds the keys to America's future...
If you think that Jean Schmidt is the answer to America's problems...

I suggest that you go see Doctor Wulsin and have your medication checked...

If you think anyone holds the key to America's problems, please tell them to run for office. No one is going to correct everyone's problems, they are just going to try to use their ideas to make your problems go away, or at least, decrease. If you think a "progressive" candidate will do this, you're probably on some of Vic's meds.
