Ghiz lets lawsuit go
Cincinnati city council member Leslie Ghiz on Monday dropped a personal lawsuit she filed against sponsors of a gambling initiative in Ohio.
Ghiz filed the lawsuit in July against the Ohio Learn and Earn Committee, which is sponsoring a state-wide ballot initiative that would allow slot machine parlors at seven race tracks and two stand-alone sites in Cleveland, but none in downtown Cincinnati.
Ghiz led a counter ballot initiative that would have brought slots parlors to those sites, plus one at Broadway Commons near the Hamilton County Justice Center, but that effort failed. Ghiz filed her suit after it became clear the Cincinnati initiative would never make the ballot.

Ghiz - Where are the night meetings? Ghiz- Where are the pay-cuts for the city council? Ghiz - Where are the "Tax Incentives for All Homeowners"? Ghiz - where have you built on the Citizen Crime Fighting Programs?
If you are "outraged" every week by the mayor, by the Learn and Earn or by anything else under the sun, then the people of Cincinnati are "Outraged" by being lied to get into office so that you can do nothing but complain.

Also if you notice, I bother people who aren't doing anything for the city - like ghiz. She complains about being "outraged", but she doesn't do anything. AND SHE COLLECTS A $60,000 CHECK FOR IT. Something she promised she wouldn't do.

It sounds like Yossarian is accusing Ghizzy of being the Todd Portune of City Clowncil.
So far, the comment exchange here is juvenile and unproductive--much like this Council. However, yossarian said one thing that actually resonates.

And to think she's featured as the face of the Bush campaign volunteer in a film at the Toronto film fest.The film makers actually called her "compelling". Yeah, she compels me to want to hurl every time I see or hear her, and that the monotone whine is like fingernails on a blackboard...
Leslie Ghiz is committed to helping improve our city. She is passionate and direct. You may disagree with her positions or her method of advacing them, but she is tireless, honest, dedicated, and extremely productive. She has earned my respect and friendship. I suspect that she would never allow herself to be offended or hurt by some of the comments above, but I am. To those with nothing but hate, ridicule, and groundless accusation to offer, what is your goal? Do you have a purpose? Or are you just mean and bored at your computer? You are the reason that nightly news broadcasts look more like Entertainment Tonight or some reality show than thoughtful news programs. Raise the bar, don't lower it even more.

Does Ghiz' dropping the suit have anything to do with the fact that Tipps-Clark lobbyists were playing both sides of this issue? State Street Consultants represent City Hall. Tipps was working for Queen City Gaming. Clark also represents a horse track operators. Argosy doesn't want new downtown slots in its backyard. This smells ALL around.
