Congressional candidate arrested

The Dayton Daily News is reporting that Stephanie Studebaker, the Centerville veterinarian who is challening incumbent Republican Mike Turner in Ohio's 3rd Congressional District, was arrested Sunday morning on a charge of domestic violence.

So, too, was her husband, Samuel Studebaker, the newspaper reported Monday afternoon.

Both were booked into the Montgomery County jail Sunday morning and released that afternoon on $25,000 cash surety bonds.

A spokesman for the Democratic congressional candidate's campaign would not comment Monday, but said a statement on the matter would be released Monday afternoon. But, as of late Monday afternoon, the Studebaker for Congress web site was down for "maintenance.''

The 3rd District includes most of Montgomery County and northern and western parts of Warren County.

This is just another reason why John Cranley should be elected to Congress.

Wonder what the Democrat hack who always posts in bold on here is going to say.

You, as well as others, recognize a true leader. Many look forward to my truthful comments.

My comments on this matter:

It is a sad day for this family. In today's world where the wRong wingnuts continue to pry into our homes many are accused of domestic violence across both aisles. We don't know the particulars.

We have had a city councilman charged, only to find he conducted himself lawfully.

I believe anyone at some point in their life, under stressful situations could be charged with this offense.

We are human !!

Does this equate with:

1.) stealing the tax-payers funds (Noe) - No
2.) corporate bribes (Cunningham) - No
3.) lying to go to war (Cheney, bush) - No
4.) suppressing voters (buckwheat) - No
5.) privatizing Drake, at below market, when the public supports it (hindlick) - No
6.) lying to congress and the voters as determined by the elections commission (schmidt) - No
7.) taking campaign money from big oil and then voting to grant corporate tax welfare (chabothead) - No

Indeed this is a family matter and we do not know, as yet.

On the surface I would say the government needs to get out of our homes and adopt a right to privacy amendment.

Right to Privacy !!

I would suggest that if this involves the discipline of a child the majority has had an occasion where the rod was not spared and better for it.

If it involves infidelity, emotions create a chemical imbalance ?

We just don't know at this point and the voters will decide what impact it shall have on their decision at the poll.

To categorize me as a Democratic hack is false.

I am independent !!

It just so happens in 32 years, I have not found a republican worth voting for !!!

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT: RIGHT TO PRIVACY

This week's proposal is from Bonita Springs, FL (8,394 messages)

- 82% Support - Constitutional Right to Privacy
- 18% Oppose - Constitutional Right to Privacy

A "Privacy Amendment" to state and the U.S. Constitutions that guarantees a right to privacy in all areas of our lives. This would impact things such as telemarketeing calls, medical records access, gun registration, abortion, gay rights and many other areas of personal behavior and activity. Most of these issues were impacted by courts' interpretations of a right to privacy and the debate as to whether the U.S. Constitution has an implied right to privacy as was decided for example in Roe v. Wade. By passing an amendment, this issue and others would be decided once and for all.

Should your elected officials support a constitutional amendment that guarantees a right to privacy? Write to President Bush, Congress and your governor and state legislature to let them know your views on this idea.

This post needs to be updated to show that Ms. Studebaker has withdrawn from the race and that a primary will be held to replace her on the OH03 ballot (date to be determined, but possibly the same date in Sept. as the primary to replace Ney on the ballot in his district).

OH-03: Dem Candidate Drops Out; Could Hackett Jump In?

Posted by DavidNYC

Stephanie Studebaker, the Democratic candidate in OH-03, has formally withdrawn from the race after being arrested on domestic violence charges. The Buckeye State Blog does an extensive roundup on who might replace her. The most intriguing name at the top of the list: One Paul Hackett.

This southwestern Ohio district is R+2.9 - in other words, far less Republican than neighboring OH-02 (R+13.1). If Hackett jumped in, he'd make the race instantly competitive. All the Hackettistas still carrying a torch for him would give him an instant cash infusion, and I think Rahm Emanuel - who wanted Hackett to challenge Jean Schmidt again - might be interested in getting involved as well.

I think this idea is a lot less crazy than it would have been earlier in the year. If you'll recall, around a month ago, Hackett finally endorsed Sherrod Brown. So maybe he's more interested in being a team player now. And if he jumped in in OH-03, he wouldn't be going back on any promises not to push other candidates out of the race, since right now there is no Democratic candidate.

Can Hackett fans convince their man to get back into the ring? We'll see.
