Strickland ad hits radio airwaves

U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland, the Democratic candidate for governor, began airing a new statewide radio ad today, this time on stations whose predominant listeners are African American. It's running in all major media markets, with the dialogue varying slightly by region, according to campaign spokesman Keith Dailey.

An earlier ad targeted Christian radio stations.

The 60-second spot also features Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory.

Here's the script:

Narrator: Gene Collins from Portsmouth on Ted Strickland.

Gene Collins: "I’ve found Ted Strickland to be as fair-minded as anyone I’ve ever been around. He sees everybody as an individual."

Narrator: Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory.

Mallory: "Ted refused to take federal health care for himself until all of the people in his district have access to health care."

Narrator: Congressman Ted Strickland fought to keep jobs in Ohio and has a plan to protect the jobs we have and create new ones. And Ted Strickland’s TurnAround Ohio plan calls for investing in education to prepare our children for the future.

Strickland: "People in Ohio want Ohio to be moved in a more positive, optimistic, hopeful direction. And we would focus on the things that really matter to Ohioans: living wage jobs, economic security for their families, education that is affordable for their young people, and healthcare so that when they or someone they know or love gets sick, they will have access to the healthcare they need."

Narrator: Join Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones in supporting Ted Strickland for governor.

Mallory: "I’m convinced he’ll be a great Governor."

Narrator: Paid for by Strickland for Governor, Michael Johrendt, treasurer

This West Side Republican has had enough. Cranley, Strickland, and Pepper, baby!

I work at the courthouse and do nothing all day and get paid 75K per year. They are never gonna figure out who I am, and I can never lose my job.

Thanks to the union!

Ted Strickland is one of the finest people that you will ever meet. I will be first in line to cast my vote for him to be the next Governor of Ohio. I am honored to have voted for him before. I will be honored to vote for him again.

It's time to start solving problems in Ohio and in America. The days of passing the problems to the next Administration are over.

This is a message to the guy who continues to post negative comments in bold on this blog. Since you have, for some unknown reason, singled me out I am finally going to respond.

First and foremost, this is supposed to be an article about Ted Strickland. You should respect the fact that he is a man who has dedicated his life to public service and the improvement of the lives of others. Please do not continue to pollute this article with your garbage rhetoric.

Secondly, I have chosen to ignore your comments for months because they are not worthy of a response. I am personally surprised that Carl Weiser and the Cincinnati Enquirer continue to allow you to post your cowardly, ridiculous, anonymous, and misspelled comments.

Finally, you keep your comments about my family to yourself and out of the public arena.

I am almost positive that I know who you are. If anybody else wants to know, then maybe they could start by reading the Cincyblog. Here's a clue. How are things on the West Side?

Please respect the honor and integrity of Ted Strickland. He is out there every single day visiting every single corner of Ohio talking with people about how he wants to make their lives better. But those are things that you obviously don't know anything about and will probably never understand. That in itself is truly sad.

If you want to be vocal about your opinions, just think of the difference that a person who has your amount of ability, time and energy could make. You could do so much good. But first, you have to let go of your hatred and fear.

What's the matter loser Jim ??

Typical politician ?/

Say one thing and do another !!

You are the one who promissed to no longer blog because you can'nt take the heat and now it seems you do not have the temperment to be in the public domain, as well.

The only one you impress with the title former loser congressional candidate, is yourself.

It is all about you, isn't jimmy ??

Well, we think your full of beans and blowing nothing but crop-dust !!

Old loser Jim claims to want what is best for citizens and yet he believes that the citizenry dos not have the right to speak anonymous !

It is called the first amendment, loser jim.

Loser jim, as someone thinking that anyone is hiding behind anonymous, you sure think a former title gives one credibility. It does not !!

The citizenry can decide the credibility or value of comments !!

The majority can allow their comments to speak and not reley on some lose title of illusionary credibility !! (ouch)

You seem to prefer censorship rather than freedom's right to speech ??

Those in the know, know !! You don't !!

Some fight for freedoms and then some are willing to sacrifice them for their own agenda !!

We all know where you slouch !!

Believe this, if anyone would advocate censorship then loser jim would be striped of the right to drop his loser name in the congressional candidate hat !!

Loser jim would not advocate that though, because it can be summed up with one word :

HYPOCRITE !!
