What's next for Schmidt and McEwen?

For Rep. Jean Schmidt, who eked out a primary victory against challenger Bob McEwen last night, what's next is a full week of legislative activity in Washington.

Today's U.S. House schedule started with a debate over two energy/gas price bills, one that deals with price gouging and the other that deals with refinery capacity. This evening, the House plans to vote on the lobby reform bill.

Then this weekend, Schmidt is running in Cincinnati's Flying Pig Marathon.

"I'm taking the weekend off," Schmidt said last night.

More Schmidt comments...

About the negative direction the campaign took in its final days: "I certainly didn't want it to go in that direction. ... My opponent was lobbing negative attacks against me and at some point, you have to respond."
About McEwen, a longtime friend turned opponent: "I wish him well."
About whether she has any regrets on her primary, Schmidt said: "No."
About her race against Democrat Victoria Wulsin this fall: "I'll be just fine."

McEwen, on the other hand didn't immediately know what his week and weekend plans were. After losing his fourth attempt at a comeback to the U.S. House, the former southern Ohio congressman also was unsure if he'd run again.

"I cannot see the circumstances by which I would run again," he said last night.

Meanwhile, his wife, Liz, wasn't as forgiving on the negative ads: "It hurts me when people say things about my husband that are absolutely not true," she told supporters after her husband's concession speech.

God bless our Congresswoman Jean Schmidt!

Jean will now go back to scaring little children, which she does well.

Bob will go back to being an all around nice guy.

Bouncin' Bob McEwen says:

"I'm going home to Washington, D.C. to lobby for DisneyWorld!"

I guess Bob can return to his lucrative career of lobbying for the Christian persecutors in Eritrea.

what's next for the men behind McEwen?

who brought us...

1) lives in Anderson

2) didn't vote for tax hikes

3) Steve Chabot who couldn't tell his left hand from his right hand and endorsed Schmidt & McU

4) running his campaign and not being run by his campaign

5) wasn't going to get bounced and checked by the voters

6) having the _____ to run for congress as lobbyist when Washington is choking from bending rules for lobbyists

7) poll he paid for showing how it was neck-neck

Jean will return to embarasing our district, flip-floping on whether Murtha is a coward, and raising our taxes... Lucky us

Rather than participating in the Flying Pig Marathon this weekend, perhaps Schmidt could expend her energy by removing her numerous campaign signs placed in the public right of way. For starters - along Red Bank Road north and south of Madison Rd. and along Linwood Road near Beechmont. Anyone else care to add to this list?

The next whacko for Schmidt to retire is...

TOM BRINKMAN

Schmidt will continue to drink blood and avoid sunlight.

I hate it when politicians always blame the "other guy" for their own actions. Doesn't any politician feel they are above the fray? Mean Jean says "I certainly didn't want it to go in that direction. ... My opponent was lobbing negative attacks against me and at some point, you have to respond." Be a grown-up and use your record (oops, Jean has no record to defend) rather than childish actions. "You're a big poopie face." "And you smell like a skunk." Nyaah-nya-nya-nya-ah!!

Tom Brinkman, Chris Finney, and the rest of the COAST crowd are finished. It's about time these blowhards leave the spotlight.
Congrats again to Jean Schmidt!

Here's "what's next" for Rep. Schmidt:

Watch out Wulsin family, because YOU are "what's next" for the Mean One! Ms. Schmidt's minions are almost certainly lining up their favorite private eyes and detectives to see what she can dredge up to smear you with. (Ask the McEwens how they liked their children being investigated as part of her manic quest to stay large and in charge...)

Number 2 on her 'what's next' to do list is probably interviewing for another attorney to have on standby for her bogus and frivolous election lawsuits -- I don't think Stan the Man will be willing to take her money this fall to attack a Democrat.

I predict that Ms. Schmidt will have her hands full with Dr. Wulsin. Mean Jean burned a lot of bridges among some hard core party loyalists and I'm not sure we're all going to be ready to vote for her in November -- even though she is a Republican.

Here's what I want to see on her "what's next" list: Be a big girl, own up to your lies and mistakes, take yoru lumps and move on. It's the only way to win back the majority of Republican voters who voted against you and are eagerly seeking out Wulsin now.

Denial and lack of accountability are not behaviors that jive with core conservative values in my mind. She's got a lot to prove to a lot of us -- and she better start soon before the Demo money starts pouring in -- believe me, they are like sharks on the scent of blood and they smell a seat that could be theirs...

haha..you people are pathetic. you just make the fact that jean won all that much sweeter. we'll stop gloating that jean won when you guys stop being sore losers and grow up.

at least we know the blower will be getting his daily exercise of typing for the next two years. only god knows how much bigger he would get if he didnt. so lets all vote for jean in november so we can keep the man from having another heart attack?

Just one question, Schmidt-heads:

Do you believe Jean Schmidt is telling the truth when she blames her college degree on her web designer?

at 11:42 PM, May 04, 2006 Anonymous Anonymous said...

Unlike Bob McEwen who continues to lie about his residency, Jean Schmidt publically and repeatedly took responsiblity for her incorrect resume.

More Schmidt signs in the public right of way:
Reagan/Cross County Highway at I-71 exit.

Out of curiosity, what reasons do Schmidt fans give for their support of her in the Republican primaries? Her most known public record is to raise taxes in the state house, and then constantly embarrass herself and the Republicans in the House of Representatives. I’m beginning to believe most of her support in the primaries comes from two groups: people who personally know her, and Democrats who vote for a blatantly weak representative of the Republican Party. Of course, there are also people who voted against Bob McEwen for various reasons, which led to her victory in the primaries.

But, are there any people who honestly think Jean Schmidt would be a good representative of the Republican Party or of the Second District in Congress?

Anon 1:29 AM, not as of a couple of hours before your comment.

That was clever of the McEwen people to steal them and put them there 24 hours before the election in an attempt to embarrass her.

Jean Schmidt ran in the Flying Pig marathon today while Bob McEwen was busy running back home to Virginia. You gotta love it. We're finally rid of Bob McEwen here in the 2nd district!

Ha, anyone see the Women for McEwen recent post? She sounds crazy.

The most entertaining aspect of watching the reich-wingers duke it out on the web and here were
the clever people who, with just some white paint,
converted the Mean Jean signs to S H I T by painting
out the C, M, and D. And the McEwen signs to EW
by deleting the M,C, E and N. Deeelicious! And so true...

"willo"

Actually, it'll be more entertaining when Schmidt defeats Wulsin by 20% of the vote in November.

wulsin who?..

Jean should be easier for us to beat in Nov. Let's hope this is her swansong. What an embarrassment!
