Clermont pleased with vote count
Staff writer Steve Kemme reports from Clermont County that the vote count was completed without incident. Last November, the elections count did not finish until the next morning.
The elections staff completed its count at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday. Elections director Michael Keeley said he was pleased.
"Considering Clermont County's past history, it went great," he said.

Nonstory not even worth posting. Time to clock out, Ronald.
Steve Kemme is one of the sexiest reporters on the Enquirer's payroll. Watch out for that man!
Why of course they were pleased! No silly Democratic observers to watch over the results. Ironic that Schmidthead was losing until Clermont kicked in. I hope McEwen challenges those results.
9:07 AM poster-
Leave the conspiracy theories to the liberal nutjobs. They have a lot more experience with them. You're out of your league. Jean Schmidt won. She'll win again in November. It's over. Move on with your life, such as it is.
Don't be so sure she'll win in November. The Christian Conservatives might not come out this fall which will be death for the RINOs (DeWine and Schmidt). Vic Wulsin is a socialist who might win because of that reason only.
I am intensely amused at the negative comments regarding Schmidt's easy win. My thanks to Ron Liebau for the original post.
The liberal nut job who thinks Vic Wulsin has any chance in November amply demonstrates my current hypothesis that all Democrats have gone insane. Cling to your illusions if you can, as being an object of pity beats being an object of contempt.
Given Schmidt's behavior when she was narrowly defeated by Tom Niehaus (Ohio State Senate District 14, 2004 Republican primary) I can draw two quick conclusions. First, a challenge to this election result by McEwen would go very badly for him, if he hopes to have a political future in Ohio. He would be flying in the face of the courageous precedent Jean Schmidt set in that earlier race when she declined to challenge a result so tight that she was declared the winner on the first count, then "lost" by a few votes in the mandatory recount. It's clear that any detractor who thinks the vote tally in Clermont County is less than honest, himself is much less than honest. Second, the Christian Conservatives came out hard for Jean Schmidt here in May to secure this victory. I know, because I was part of the effort. We are planning to redouble the effort, pulling out all stops here to see that Jean Schmidt buries the political hopes of Democrats in her district for good. I doubt the national or state Democrat machines will bother after this year to put any money into a race against Schmidt at least through the years she chooses to remain a Congressional Representative. She may run frequently unopposed.
The liberal Democrat is becoming an endangered species in this increasingly red region. I personally am doing what I can to insure extinction of the liberal Democrat here before the 2008 election cycle ends. I would prefer the sinners be converted and saved....
