More charity donations coming up?

Another guilty plea in the widening Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal came down yesterday. This time, it was Ohio Rep. Bob Ney's former aide Neil Volz, who hails from Greater Cincinnati. Volz pleaded guilty to conspiracy and other charges.

Read the story in today's Enquirer here.

Thanks to the Newark Advocate, a Gannett sister paper, read the U.S. Justice Department information here, the plea agreement here and the statement of facts here.

Now check out this list that Democrats are e-mailing around of Ohio lawmakers who have received campaign contributions from Volz.

Will they be keeping the money or donating it to charity?

Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) $300
Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH) $500
Rep. Steve LaTourrette (R-OH) $1,000
Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH) $4,225
Rep. Mike Oxley (R-OH) $1,000
Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-OH) $250
Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-OH) $1,000

That's chump change.

If Dems want to talk about the culture of corruption, let's talk about Patrick Kennedy.

A man stands up and asks for help when he needs it. I'm proud to back Congressman Kennedy.

A coward runs and hides when contronted by a problem. Ohio republicans are running and hiding now that they've been confronted with a giant problem named Jack Abramoff. Republicans are addicted to illegal money from criminals. Republicans are addicted to breaking the law. There are no real men and women in the Republican Party. Nothing but a bunch of whiney corrupt cowards.

What has Chabot been up to? He seems real nice and I tend to think he wouldn't get mixed up with all the Washington corruption, but here he is taking money from another person guilty of bribing congress.

This Abramoff thing is the biggest scandal since Nixon. What gives, Chabot?

Neil Volz is a local boy from Finneytown. Volz served as legislative assistant to Stanley Aronoff, president ofthe Ohio State Senate.

Volz was named to Roll Call’s“50 Most Powerful Capitol Hill Staffers” three times and named a “Top Hired Gun” in the Hill’s 2004 “Masters of Access” annual list of top lobbyists.

Volz, not an attorney, received his B.A. in political science from Ohio State University. Neil Volz is a registered lobbyist at Barnes and Thornburg LLP.

He is actively involved in conservative politics and has held several ranking staff positions with state and federal legislators.

His practice areas include, but are not limited to technology, homeland security, financial services, procurement, appropriations, outsourcing and competitive sourcing, transportation, energy, trade and foreign relations.

Prior to working as a lobbyist, Mr.Volz most recently served as staff directorfor the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on House Administration, where he oversaw the committee responsible for administering the internal operations of the House of Representatives as well as federal election law.

This included everything from passage of election reform legislation after the 2000 presidential election, to helping coordinate Capitol Hill security after the September 11th attacks inWashington, D.C. In addition, Mr. Volz served as chief of staff for U.S. Representative RobertNey (R-Ohio), for whom he oversaw the Congressional account and the office’slegislative and policy initiatives. Before being named chief of staff, he served as Rep. Ney’s press secretary.

"Drinking or drugs is hardly a culture of corruption..."

How about not having to take a breathalizer test because of who you are?

to give or not give is an officers discretion:

You need to bring that up with the crooked cronies at the FOP !

breathalizer

perhaps a spelling test would be more appropriate ?
