Sherrod Brown pumps gas plan

Now that the Senate Republicans' plan to pass out $100 fuel-cost rebate checks to American taxpayers has crashed and burned, Senate Democrats - and Senate wanna-be's like Ohio's Sherrod Brown - are out touting their own plan to ease the gasoline crisis: a 60-day moratorium on the collection of federal gasoline taxes, which would save consumers 18.4 cents a gallon.

Standing in the parking lot of the African-American Chamber of Commerce Monday afternoon, with a Shell gas station sign advertising $2.68.9 per gallon gas in the background, Brown argued for a temporary suspension of the 18.4 cent federal tax. Repealing some $10 billion in "unnecessary'' subsidies for oil companies granted by Congress would more than make up for the lost revenue.

But, Brown said, with former oilman George W. Bush in the White House and Republicans controlling Congress - the recipients of $73 million in campaign contributions from oil and gas companies - gasoline prices are almost certain to continue rising.

"Prices won't stabilize until the Republicans in Congress and the White House wean themselves from Big Oil contributions,'' Brown said.

It would be great if Sherrod Brown could coordinate a 60 holiday on both State and Federal gas taxes. We should then repeal all of the tax subsidies that we have given to they oil industry not only to pay for the loss in revinue, but also to start doing serious research in ethanol. Ethanol = jobs for Ohioans.

'Wannabe'.

Why can't any reporter at the Spinquirer 'report' any story concerning a Democrat WITHOUT adding their right wing-nut spin to the piece?

What a biased rag the Enquirer is. If this is Gannett's 'most improved newspaper of 2005' I shudder to think what the 'worst' Gannett paper must be like.

Perhaps you are taking Stephen Colbert's remarks at the White House Press Corps Dinner last week too seriously: ""Let's review the rules. Here's how it works. The president makes decisions, he’s the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people of the press type those decisions down. Make, announce, type. Put them through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kicking around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration. You know -- fiction."

The (R)Wrong Wing rag will not change until someone brings suit against them for libelous wrong wing slants.

Rumor has it there is one in the works with the hamilton county republican party as co-defendant for their rubber stamp publishing of Mad Brad's defaming rhetoric, to the tune of 350,000,000 (yes million).

Stay Tuned, because the whole central committee may be served as well.

Brown is nothing more than a wannabe. His Hackett-baggage will be enough to re-elect Mike DeWine.

Mr. Wilkinson - There was no open thread this Sunday (how come?), so I'll post this here. You were mentioned in this recent Buckeye State Blog post about the paper's coverage of the recent election season, "Disgraceful Coverage By Cinci Enquirer":

I'd love to hear from the Cinci Enquirer's editors why they chose to be derelict in their duty to inform thousands of their readers about an important election. I won't hold my breath though - they have been unaccountable to their readers for years. I would encourage everyone to write Howard Wilkinson and ask him - and failing that just cancel your subscription.

In the latest statewide poll by the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Mike DeWine leads Brown by 11 points. That lead will only grow larger as Ohio voters discover Brown's leftist views on abortion, gun rights, gay marriage, etc. Ken Blackwell will bring large numbers of conservatives to the polls in November. Who do you think the conservative voters are going to vote for once they've finished voting Ken Blackwell in as the next Governor of Ohio? Sherrod Brown? Dream on, libs. It's going to be yet another Republican sweep this November. After that happens, will you all please move to Canada en masse like you promised you'd do if Bush was re-elected? Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

Senator Frist really had a whopper of an idea with that $100 rebate. Maybe finally the public will get their head out the sand and recognize that there is alot more going on in the world and our country other than abortion and gay marriage. And to think this guy Frist wants to be President!!
As Harry used to say: Holy Cow!!!
