McEwen picks up conservative backers
Republican Bob McEwen, a former congressman from southern Ohio, has picked up support some conservative support.
The latest comes from the Battleground PAC, an area political action committee that has set out to choose the "right" Republicans. The group announced that it's endorsing McEwen over sitting Rep. Jean Schmidt, who McEwen is challenging in the GOP primary May 2.
"We are proud to join the impressive and extensive list of people and organizations who have recognized all that Bob has to offer and our proud to stand with him in his return to Congress," Battleground PAC executive director Tim Holloway said.
Also named on the group's "comprehensive listing of conservative candidates who deserve your support and your vote" is Republican Ken Blackwell for governor.
McEwen already has been endorsed by Phil and Vickie Burress of Citizens for Community Values (CCV), a local group that promotes Judeo-Christian moral values and is affiliated with Dr. James Dobson and Focus on the Family.
Dobson also has endorsed McEwen.

Ooops, the Enquirer made another mistake.
They left out the words "front runner" from the opening sentence of this entry. You know, right after the word Republican.
Don't count your chickens before they're hatched...

Wrong, Malia. CCV promotes their own peculiar concept of moral values. CCV is not in line with mainstream churches or synogogues, which do not promote hate campaigns.
CCV is a thinly-disguised political action committee whose principal funder is Carl Lindner.
Mr. Bizzy Blog,
To bring up the check allegations that were never found to be true according to the JUSTICE DEPARTMENT is absurd. Although, using a move out of the Pat DeWine playbook might not be bad though, because you know he really did good. Again, why do so many so called conservatives pick and choose what convictions and standards govern their voting habits?
How about the qualification Jean has lived in the district for years unlike someone coming in from Washington. It may not mean a lot to liberals as witnessed by Hilary going to NY, but it does mean a lot in this area of the world.
It matters? What matters to me is that we have someone in Congress who grew up as grocery bagger in a small rural town in Ohio. Someone who wasn't handed a family real estate dream and born with a silver spoon in their mouth, someone who knows true Southern Ohio values. What matters is that we have someone in Congress who makes their constituents feel they are doing the job of a legislator and not a politician. What matters is that our representative respect the unwritten rules of Congress to respect all senior members no matter what differences you may have. What matters is that Bob McEwen is the essence of what the American Dream is all about. Elected to office in his 30's and moved on up in prominence and regard on his own merits! I'll tell you what matters to me!
Why would Bob come all the way back here to Ohio to run for office?? Surely he is eligible and qualified(?) to be a representative for the people of Virginia(isn't that where he has lived the past 15 years?)
Maybe he could go down to Kentucky next? Or maybe out west? Any states out there need a congressman with lots of experience??
Point is, we already have a very qualified, determinined & conservative republican representative in Jean Schmidt and we do not need some outsider in here trying to sell us that he is what we need to represent us in congress!!!
