Blackwell: More popular than Bush in GOP land?

Gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell made an odd assertion Saturday while giving a stump speech to supporters in the middle of a McDonald's restaurant in Celina, Ohio, one that made some of the good Republican folk do a double take.

"People say to me, are you going to Mercer County (home of Celina) and Darke County (the county just south of Mercer) because it is Bush country?,'' said Blackwell. "I say, no, I'm going there because it is Blackwell country.''

He then said that he had higher percentages of the votes in the two counties when he ran for Ohio Secretary of State in 2002 than George W. Bush had in 2004.

He's half-right.

A check of the Ohio Secretary of State's web site shows that Blackwell had 70 percent of the Darke County vote in 2002 while Bush took 69 percent in 2004. But in Mercer County, Bush scored 75 percent to Blackwell's 69 percent in 2002.

Blackwell is arrogant. Ted Strickland is honorable. That is a significant difference in character.

Jim Parker, Democratic candidate for US Congress (Against Jean Schmidt) believes in Ted Strickland.

It is time to put honor and dignity back into Columbus. Our state government has become a national embarrassment. How did we go from the leader in almost everything to last in almost everything in Ohio?

Failed Leadership. Rubber Stamp Policies. Loss of Sight of EVERYTHING that is Important to Ohio's Families...

It is time for them to go! Are you REALLY planning to vote for Jean Schmidt and Ken Blackwell in November? Give me a break...

Jim Parker BELIEVES in Ted Strickland

Jim PARKER, the SOLUTION to Jean Schmidt

Someone needs to explain something to Mr Parker. Schmidt is a Republican..he is a Democrat. He is not running against Schmidt YET. His opponents are Wulsin, Sinnard, Jacobs (most likely the winner for the Dems), and Downey. He needs to make sure he wins Tuesday first. I admire his spunk and his believing in himself, but let's focus on the primary first. I wish him luck...maybe he WILL be running against Schmidt in the fall.

Ken Blackwell is going to crush Petro at the polls tomorrow. Then it'll be Ted Strickland's turn in November.

Here's the latest from the Ken Blackwell campaign blog. Blackwell comes out on top in straw poll held by local Blue Chip Young Republicans:
