Rager to submit temporary budget

Cincinnati City Manager David E. Rager said Wednesday he would submit a three-month budget to the mayor after Mayor-elect Mark Mallory convenes the 40th City Council on Dec. 1.

The unusual "continuing resolution" budget would give the new council -- which has four new members and at least three vacancies on the Finance Committee -- more time to consider policy changes before adopting the 2006 annual budget. By state law, that budget must be approved by March 31.

Mallory has said he plans no major changes in his first budget, which is technically an update of the biennial budget passed last year.

when's he going to fund the boot camp? re-instate the OEM? Is he doing anything he promised to do?

Temporary Budget? I distinctly remember Mallory saying throughout the last days of the campaign that he was going to bring State money into the City. He crowed he had all the contacts to do this. And he has.

When is the Ohio Highway Patrol arriving on I-75? Is Mallory going to make them abide by the criminal Collaborative Agreement? Will they agree? The Sheriff told the City what to do with the anti-police, anti-white Collaborative Agreement!

You can say that again. As a white man, I always feel so oppressed by the police!

Last Fri. Enquirer-

"I just talked to him about the budget and how we're going to handle it," Luken told City Manager David E. Rager as he introduced his successor. "And by 'we,' I mean I don't want to have anything to do with it."

By charter, the mayor is responsible for transmitting the budget to City Council - usually by the end of November for approval by mid-December.

Mallory said the budget was an update of the biennial budget approved last year. Though Mallory proposed reinstating three city agencies in the campaign - the Planning Department, the Safety Director's Office and the Office of Environmental Management, Mallory said those changes would not be immediate.

"You don't make major policy changes in an update budget," he said.

Anons-
You need to get a clue on how city budget works before you bash Mallory.
Also, with clueless Kearney as our new Senator, don't think we can count on much money being delivered by him back to Cincy.

How long is the delay between a post and the blog author's "approval"?

Mayor-elect Mark Mallory has already provided reasonable answers to the questions posted above.

He will fund the boot camp and reinstate OEM the Saftey Director in the next budget, not during a budget update like the one being addressed by Rager.

Why don't you David Pepper puppets show some class for once, quit your whining, and show some support for our new Mayor. The sooner you come to grips with the fact that the people have spoken and helped Mallory beat that rich chump fairly and squarely, the better off you'll be!

Mallory's too lazy to do the hard work to put together a real budget. Why else would he want to wait 3 more months or 1 more year before he even proposes what he wants? I'm getting a good picture of what we'll see over the next 4 years - Mayor Status Quo. Hopefully some of the great new Councilmembers will push through some actual CHANGE!
