A picture is worth....$13

Kathleen Akin of Wyoming was featured in The Enquirer April 24 for her decision to be a single mother. But it was her dog that got the attention of the Hamilton County Auditor's Office.

After a photo showed Akin, 45, and her children walking with Sophie, the family's King Charles spaniel, Akin got a letter from the Auditor's Office.

"We saw a picture from Thursday's Cincinnati Enquirer of you in the 'Single Women Who Choose Motherhood" article,'" stated the letter. "When we checked our dog registration database, we didn't find any references you had licensed your dog Sophie."
Akin's response: "I was like, 'Oh my God.' There are so many people out there not paying their child support and they're wasting their time on a $13 dog registration."

Jessica Brown has the story here

Hey, lady, the County Auditor's office does not handle child-support payments. They do dog licenses, though.

Besides, we know about the child-support enforcement actions because the government takes action against them. All those people you read and hear about owing child support are known to us becausee a government agency somewhere has gone to court on behalf of the parent and received a judgement.

Sheesh. How ignorant can we get? I wonder what she thinks of Marc Dann. Does she buy his "other people have affairs" defense? Or does she think he should go because she doesn't approve of his behavior or demeanor. Either way, she is a pathetic hypocrite and probably votes for Democrats.

The Auditor's office has nothing to do with "people not paying their child support". If they did it would probably be done better.

.

Seems the auditors office has time to harass citizens for a dog license, but doesn't have the time to recoup (CAUV) property tax breaks for, so called, 'farmers' in the plush "culture of corruption' valley of Indian Hill, where the land should be valued at 100,000 per. green acre, yet some are not ?

Seems dusty can take the time to harass a citizen, but, fails to respond to records requests and explanations why the Camargo County Club is receiving 100's of thousands of dollars in reduced property valuations.

Check out the sweet deal dusty's cronies get:

Hey 'fishwRap' since the auditors office is willing to travel down the ole dusty roads to investigate your fine work, why don't you do a little investigative reporting, of your own, regarding the auditors (CAUV) documentation, recoupment efforts, verification efforts, etc. ?

Hey, Pathetic!

Wondered where you'd go when the other blog went away. Glad you found this one. I missed you.

It's probably an indication of the veracity of your ongoing CAUV pogrom that no reputable media has bit.

Then again, if they did they might find your friend, Vic "The Trick" who just started playing the CAUV game this year, helping herself to a tax break of her very own.

I'm with you on your frustration Kathleen. This story is another perfect example of the reason so many people consider themselves loyal Americans who are damn tired of the American government. Whoever made the decision to pursue this situation based upon a name and published photograph has way to much time on your hands. And we, the citizens paying your salary, are putting you and your team on notice, should senseless greedy decisions like this continue your employment should be terminated. Failure to curtail this type of activity could result in the public at large fearing governemnt intrusion into every corner of their lives. It's the type of persons involved with this decision that we MUST eliminate from our government payrolls.

Hon. Kathleen Akin pays $10,280 per. year property tax for her .77 acre single-mom home while former disgraced congressional candidate 'hack Black' pays zero on his .28 acres and zero on his .95 acres and only $7,948 per. year for 10.27 acres ?

All while the private CAMARGO CLUB DRIVE ASSN pays only $24.20 a year for 11.72 acres ?

I am just curious as to who in the Auditor's office she must have ticked off in order for them to conduct an investigation of her and their dog.

Is this standard operating procedure for employees in the Auditor's office to scour local newspapers looking for pictures of families with their pets, investigate them, track them down and harass them?

Big Brother is always watching.

If Dusty was really doing favors for his "cronys" he wouldn't be putting all the values on the Internet.

The CAUV (agricultural) tax breaks are REQUIRED by state law - for people in Indian Hill and anywhere else.

Anyone believing any property is improperly valued has the right to file a complaint for a hearing before the Board of Revision.

It doesn't cost anything to file. If there was any validity to the repeated charges of misvaluation by the perpetual funny type face blogger that is what she would do.

But she hasn't. I know if I had the kind of "goods" on any public office as she pretends to have on Dusty, I'd be doing more about it than writing newspaper blogs.

Rhodes has one of the best run offices in the county. He's constantly improving his website.

Read the article - he said he disagrees with dog licensing. But it's his job to do it. If you don't like the law call your State Representative. Don't blame Rhodes for following the law.

What is he supposed to do when some woman is cavorting across the pages of the newspaper with unlicensed dogs? Look the other way? Pretend he didn't see it?

That whining woman from Wyoming needs to wake up & get a reality check. Child support payments are a very serious matter & are handled in an efficient manner. That doesn't absolve her from paying for a license for that dog. Cridy! She lives in Wyoming, has 2 kids, & a pedigree dog. I guess with costs being what they are, $13 would put her over budget & then her keeping up appearances facade would become a bit faded in Wyoming.

Oh say, doesn't the dog on a leash law apply in Wyoming??? Looks to me that this mutt of champion blood specimen is bounding along without a leash.

Nice examples of abiding by the law she's establishing for her 2 kids. Real nice job. No dog tags, no leash. Way to go, whiny woman from Wyoming!

Thanks for applying the statutes fairly, Dusty! You're the man!!

No, it is a private road. I drive on it.

The road is called "Camargo Club Drive".

It starts at Drake Road near Graves and winds through the area.

It is 2 lanes wide, and the parcel in question is part of the road.

It is not owned by Camargo Club, but rather by the Homeowners Association.

I estimate it, along with its associated right of way, to be about twenty five feet wide.

It is private land with a driveway to private homes. If one person owned the property the other home owners would have an easement !

We are aware it is the homeowners associations property and never represented that it had anything to do with Camargo Club and golf course !

There are 128 properties getting reduced valuations in I.H. including some property management companies, banks and 'Linders' !

Cite the statute of the O.R.C. that justifies the association's property valuation.

As any real-estate person can tell you, property has value based upon its use, and potential use.

A narrow strip of land that has no higher and better use than as a roadway has a very low level of desirability. It would be unbuildable, as it could never meet property setbacks.

The amount of land has nothing to do with value in a case like this. The usability of the land is what matters.

The idea behind the need for a dog license is only for revenue. Why give credit to "Dusty" for pretending he's corralling a need for the county to keep track of dogs? As to his "hip" staff...maybe they could treat people in a dignified manner instead of the smug way I've witnessed.

"Dusty" has asked for no credit. State law requires that dogs be licensed for whatever reason and the Auditor's office is charged with doing that.

What could be more "dignified" than
advising someone they are required to license their dogs? "Dusty" didn't make an issue of it, the lady did when she called the newspaper to complain about getting the letter.

Property setbacks are set by local municipal ordinance. There is no ORC for such things. Indian Hill requires at least 100 feet (dependent upon the part of Indian Hill).

I also believe that a deed restriction requires that the land be used as access. Therefore, it is nearly valueless. Since it cannot be used for anything but access to a few residences, it is worth nothing.

You are barking up the wrong tree, and are clearly wrong.

The highest and best use is what it currently is.

Not to mention that the adjacent property owners have easements to travel across it, therefore nothing could ever be built upon it.

A city, township, village can't devalue property by muni-code.

If the property is devalued there must be an O.R.C. that permits it, PERIOD !

An easement has nothing to do with valuation. In every location the city, township, village has an easement on everyones property rights. That doesn't permit each homeowner to have that section devalued !

The private road is called Commonwealth. The property from the edge of the road to the street(Beechtree) is unusable for any other purpose. The land is valued at $17,100 !

Maybe, the private road is an improvement and the property should be valued higher than the land alone for which is $100,000 per acre ?

Yet land and improvements are only valued at $1,000 ?

We shall provide you with the statute that supports that theory of land improvement, (notice the terms private road in the statute) now, you provide the statute that discredits the O.R.C.:

Chapter 5703-3 Property Tax
5703-3-01 Property excepting oil, gas and water production plants.

(A) For the purpose of classifying property for taxation, items of property devoted primarily to the general use of the land or buildings thereon are to be considered as real property and all other items of property including their foundations and all things accessory thereto which are devoted primarily to the business conducted on the premises are to be considered as personal property.

(B) The following items are hereby classified as real property for the purpose of taxation. This list is not all-inclusive and items similar to those herein classified are to be considered as real property if they meet the test as set forth in the preceding paragraph.

(1) Land and improvements to land, including retaining walls, piling, and mats for the general improvement of the site, private roads, walks, paving, areaways, culverts, bridges, viaducts, subways and tunnels, fencing, artificial lakes, reservoirs, spray ponds, dykes, dams, ditches and canals, drainage, storm and sanitary sewers, water lines for drinking, sanitary and fire protection purposes.

The few cases you found with various procedural issues simply don't overturn the basic protection "any person owning taxable property in the county" can seek from the Board of Revision with a valuation complaint.

If you're afraid to file complaints yourself, you can provide your information to the school district affected. The school boards have real attorneys on retainer, are always filing Board of Revision complaints any welcome any chance to increase their tax take.

They would love to see you coming

Your failure to do anything about the many "injustices" of which you write - even to the point of making weak excuses why you can't - says so much more than your continuing posts.

"Your failure to do anything about the many "injustices" of which you write - even to the point of making weak excuses why you can't - says so much more than your continuing posts. 11:08 PM, May 10, 2008"

Hey 'clueless', flip-flopping, county crony employee, you just can't learn to read !

First it was one thing, now it is another !

When that is the case, there is no wonder the incompetent auditor and staff will engage in political protectionism, PERIOD !

We wonder if there are red-light cameras in the county offices as the clean-up is in process ?

It is all about timing, sweetie !

The ducks will be on the dusty roads before your boat floats !

Perhaps, there are several attorney, government officials, following ?

There is no telling what will be discovered ?

We continue to 'rope the dope' and entrap her ignorance !

Now, county employee, when could your school board file ?

What dates ?

You totally lack credibility, PERIOD !

But hey, Thanks for being a FOLLOWER !

PATHETIC 'family values' !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE DEMOCRAT 2008 !

Pathetic knows nothing beyond how to make ridiculous, unfounded charges over and over and over...

But that's all she knows. Poor thing is too scared to do anything more.
Maybe she should go back to suing the Bengals.

And I'm happy to say I told you so..

"The few cases you found with various procedural issues simply don't overturn the basic protection"

This sounds like a lie-yer's rhetoric !

Once again it is XXX judge Tryingtofoolyou !

And I'm happy to say I told you so..12:34 PM, May 11, 2008"

Once again it is XXX judge Tryintofoolyou !

There is no telling what we will discover, but, we do know there will be pathetic: FOLLOWERS !

Could this mean that Pathetic is finally going to do something beyond posting hilarious blogs?

We know she's afraid to file value complaints with the Board of Revision. (Others can and do - but the law says she can't). And I guess we can assume even the school boards don't take her seriously.

Let's see if some attorneys and government officials will bite. I know the Auditor's office loves visitors and Dusty loves publicity.

I can hardly wait.

Then hurry up, wRong wingnut whacko county crony, and complete the public records requests, email requests, phone call requests, statistical audits, sample random letter audits, random audit file, current woodland agency list of properties under state land management, explanation why Camargo is not on the the woodland management list, explanation why CAUV requires commercial timber and Camargo is listed as non-commercial timber and why is there no adjoining farming land application that qualifies under CAUV, explanation why there was an 11 page fax from the Camargo file after a request for documents yet before the documents were produced, explanation of why you do not have an agency list of those properties under any federal conservation program, is there none in Hamilton County, etc. ?

We hear they are a matter of discovery ?

We have been promised access ?

Will will expose the observation if we happen to be provided with the information !

No guarantee: we didn't make the request. We hear it's in the works ?

Hey, thanks for being a: FOLLOWER !

How's that for publicity, XXX judge Tryintofoolyou !

Have to run, cover your tracks, feet getting hot ?

Perhaps another fax will conceal incompetence ?

PATHETIC 'family values' !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT 2008 !

The only wrong, wingnut whacko is you, darling.

Once again, barking up the wrong tree, but what's new?

Who is "we"? More shadowy rogues skulking around trying to create an issue where none exists.

Your blue smoke and mirrors legal opinions never fail to amuse.

Well, it would seem 'lie-yering, farmer black' has lost a 'field hoe' and it is heid-ing in OH-1 !

HAY, if they spent more time getting volunteers and less time spreading the trail-horse manure, they may be able to kick a little elephant dung off them, there, riding boots ?

PATHETIC 'family values' !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE, for a real, DEMOCRAT 2008 !
