Connie's back

The landscape of southwest Ohio politics is littered with the carcasses of Democrats who have tried to break through the Republican lock on Ohio legislative seats in the suburban districts. Many have run once, gotten their indiviudual and collective clocks cleaned, and have disappeared beneath the waves, never to been heard from again.

Connie Pillich is not one of those.

Pillich - the former Air Force officer and attorney from Montgomery - came out of nowhere in 2006 to run an agressive, if underfunded, campaign to unseat State Rep. Jim Raussen, the Springdale Republican who was running for a third term in northern Hamilton County's 28th Ohio House District.

Pillich did better than expected, pulling in 48 percent of the vote in a reliably Republcan district. Her performance caught the attention of the party leadership, who encouraged her to run again.

Not that she needed much encouraging.

Wednesday morning, she files petitions to run again against Raussen, who is running for his last term, under Ohio's term limits law.

The Ohio Democratic Party plans a serious push in 2008 to win back the Ohio House after 14 years of GOP control. If there is a district in southwest Ohio that is likely to draw special attention from the Democratic party, it is probably this one.

Howard,

Why do you insist on calling the 29th District "reliably Republican?" It's not the 20th century anymore. Voters are getting wise to the Repugnicants' disastrous policies and are turning against them in droves. You made the same mistake in describing Steve Driehaus' district.

Even though the Repugs drew grotesquely gerrymandered districts to suit themselves, the ovters have grown wise to the damage their policies are cuasing them and are throwing them out in droves.

If you would check data reaily available on the Board of Elections website, you will learn that in Jim Rotten's last race, he was one of only 3 Repugs to carry that part of the county. Strickland, Wulsin, Cranley (the district is split between Combover and Schmithead), Pepper all won in the 29th.

And also if you would check the campaign finance reports available on the Secretary of State's website, you will learn that the Gang of Pedphiles spent a gazillion dollars to defend Jim Rotten. The Enquirer itself reported on some of the hate-mail they sent out to support Jim Rotten.

Howard, you are a lazy reporter living in the past. There are very, very few places left in Hamilton County which are "reliably Republican." In fact, the same could be said for most of America.

.

Raussen and the 'culture of corruption', G-rand O-ld P-edophile, Bennett ran a disgusting smear campaign by attempting to link Hon. Pillich with the criminals she represents as a PUBLIC DEFENDER !

While Connie was protecting the constitutional rights of all citizen's, Raussen was in bed with the outstead election official frauds !

Raussen has no respect for women when he mail-blasted a hit-piece on Hon. Pillich with a Christmas theme coupled with the implication that Connie was a HO, HO, HO !

PATHETIC "family values" !

HAD ENOUGH, VOTE PILLICH 2008 !

Connie Pillich has displayed a fine job of looking after her own interests, not those of the community around her.

This is the same Connie Pillich who tried to get the City of Montgomery taxpayers to spend millions of dollars to buy property, not for a common good, but instead, so she and her neighbors could maintain a median outside their neighborhood.

Not exactly the fiscal responsibility that I want representing me in the State Legislature.

Mr. Anonymous (the last one), we all know who you are. You're the one who recently lost a massive legal battle to Connie in the Ohio Supreme Court. You were representing some corrupt people with a lot of money and you still lost in a unanimous decision a few months ago. You tried to supress the Ohio citizens' right to vote. Connie donated her time to fight your corrupt buddies and all the Ohio Supreme Court Justices agreed with her - Ohio's citizens are smart and do deserve to vote on important issues. Connie is an incredibly honorable, intelligent person - Ohioians everywhere would be lucky to have her in this office. Why don't you save your lies for someone who cares.

Doesn't matter. I am going to put this in terms the corporate plutocrats running the Gang Of Pedophiles can easily understand: your brand sucks.

Face it, after the illegal war, record gas prices, record deficits, a tanking economy, record foreclosures, a worthless dollar, and their interest in using children for their sexual gratification, the "Republican" brand is dead.

They could run the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost for County Commission and will still lose.

Howard, you said "Connie Pillich is not one of those", but she is. Since she and the rest of her group's attempt to defraud the people of Montgomery failed, we haven't seen "hide nor hair" of her; only a few individuals from her group have surfaced with reserves issues. These are the same people who said before the vote that there were enough reserves to purchase the property - now they are questioning some of the planned expenses of the City saying "what about the reserves, shouldn't we keep them where they are??"

The 8:44 PM Mr. Anonymous doesn't have the facts straight regarding the the petition nor Connie's honor. The "massive" legal battle was an appeal to the Supreme Court that would overturn the local Board of Elections decision to stop a poorly written (and not valid petition by Montgomery's charter) to go forward to the voters. The Cout also said there were legal remedies for the City to use in case the voters did approve the Petition. She presented an invoice to the court to have the Responsible group pay for her services, but the court didn't approve it so I guess she ended up donating her time - nice try!

Before sending the peition to the Board of Elections, the City asked her and her group to change the wording of the petition to make the choice for the voters a simple "yes or no" regarding the purchase. When Connie and her group said no, that's when a group of citizens challenged her and her group. The Responsible group was not trying to supress the citicens right to vote, only supress a poorly written and not valid petition. As it turned out the citizens of Montgomery saw through her and voted almost two to one against the petition.

As far as honorable, Connie lied right to people's faces when she approached them to sign the petition. If they hesitated to sign, she put out false and misleading information regarding what could be built on those parcels. A flyer that Connie and her group put together didn't have the correct facts about the City's dealings with developers - she told a group of citizens that the City gave The Sage Tavern to Starbucks, when in reality the City sold it to a private company; another example is the false and misleading info she propagated regarding the TIF projects - she just didn't know what she was talking about . . . . . . so much for honor!
