Another would-be Brinkman replacement

The field of Republican candidates in the 34th Ohio District grew by 33 percent Thursday with the entry of Anderson Township lawyer Peter Stautberg.

Stautberg filed his petitions with the Hamilton County Board of Elections Thursday, joining another Anderson Township lawyer, Greg Delev, and Anderson Township trustee Russ Jackson in the GOP primary.

They are running for an open seat - the current occupant, Tom Brinkman, is term-limited out and is running in the 2nd Congressional District GOP primary.

The GOP primary was bound to draw a crowd - it's a very Republican district, with Anderson Township at its population center and Mt. Washington, Hyde Park, Newtown, Mt. Lookout and a few other very Republican areas thrown in for good measure.

There is one candidate in the running on the Democratic side - Jeff Sinnard

I thought Jeff Berding was running for this seat. Isn't that why he moved to Linwood last year?

If you have 2 candidates and you add 1...that's an increase of 50 percent...not 33 percent.

Is Pete Stautberg related to Judge Julia?

Didn't Jackson just run for Anderson Trustee? How many seats can he hold at the same time? If he wants Brinkman's seat why did he spend all that money on the trustee race? Sounds like a goof ball to me.

Didn't Delev have money trouble related to a conflicted loan made to his last campaign against Brinkman?

Greg Devel seems to be the best organized candidate of the 3 running. He appears to have a solid district wide base of support. Jackson's base is exhausted (and confused) from township trustee race of November 2007.

I am disgusted at the tactic Greg Delev is using in his run for 34th District State Rep. Not only are his ads misleading voters into thinking he has public office experience, he is sending flat out LIES about his opponents - anyone who is this unsophisticated I DO NOT WANT REPRESENTING ME. A recent postcard was sent claiming Russ Jackson was taxing and spend our money to build "Jackson's Palace". This palace is the new Anderson Twp COMMUNITY Center. It is a wonderful building that houses the trustee's offices, management offices, the Chamber of Commerce, reception rooms and an amazing theater for the Beechmont Players. This beautiful center was needed for Anderson to stay economically competitive and to finally give the community a focal point and a place to gather around. Anderson Twp has not had any tax increases since 2000, the new Anderson Towne shopping center is supporting its own weight and its tenants are paying taxes unlike those at Rookwood. Russ Jackson and the other 3 trustees have worked hard to make a better place for families with out making us pay for it. If Delev can not be supportive his own township, recognize a community's need to evolve to survive, hear that the people of Anderson really wanted this Center, then how could he possibly get it right at at a District level.
