City police disciplined

Kimball Perry has the story here

I believe these police officers deserve the discipline they received. They should have stepped up to the plate when the incidences began. Supervisors are supposed to supervise and make sure our taxpayer's dollars are being used wisely and honestly. These supervisors did not, and really should have been fired, too.

I am pro-union all the way and I support Harrell and the FOP's responsibility in the checks and balances of the department. But, sometimes, you have to draw the line.
These officers are what gives cops and the union a bad name - they have negatively affected the morale and dignity of the FOP.
I think the FOP should let them eat their punishments and be glad it's not worse.
Furthermore, someone should be asking Joe Deters why he refuses to charge these men with a criminal offense. Being found guilty thereof would eliminate the public squabbling about how bad this is for Greater Cincinnati.
Deters - do your job - prosecute dirty, lazy cops.

.

The problem is that the force has made walking the streets a punishment, PERIOD !

There is no way these guys should be demoted and loose 20 grand a year !

Why didn't they get a ticket and pay a fine like the rest of society ?

Is it possible, when in pursuit, they may have prepared themselves for a suspect bail ?

Hell, hindlick and da da da whine went several years before they did anything and we still paid them !

If arbitration can force the re-hire of a cop that plants dope on individuals (John Sess), these guys playing video games, and the boss that allows it, is MINOR !

They will get their jobs back with back pay and should !

Hello, progressive discipline ?

PATHETIC !

HAD ENOUGH, FOP #69 start endorsing DEMOCRAT 2008 !

When is Streicher going to be disciplined for being insubordinate by refusing the direct orders of Council?

Same coach, same team, same result. $350,000 per day for CPD...do you feel safer?

Streicher won't talk, Mallory won't be asked (thanks, Enquirer) so we are just left in the dark about whether anybody cares about the non-working, criminal CPD.

Meanwhile, they brag about crime reductions...reductions from a record high. With Streicher in charge, we will be back up within two years.

Why is walking a beat PUNISHMENT? Council says they want some cops walking, and Streicher only assigns "bad" cops to walk beats.

Others need to get up to Ault Park in their cars for the fun!

HAD ENOUGH DEMOCRAT, VOTE 2008

Hard to say which is worse: the current state of CPD under Streicher or the current state of the city under Mallory who does not seem to care about his rogue force.

Or maybe the worst is The Enquirer, who lets them ALL of the hook!

Where is Kabaka when you need him? He wouldn't let the cops off without shining a light on their misdeeds. especially Streicher's.

Growing up in Cincinnati during the late 70's & early 80's we were taught by our parents, teachers, and respected elders that we must respect the law and it's officers. Times sure have changed. Children today are not raised to respect the law or it's officers. Many people find that to be a bad thing. I find that in todays society I have little respect for the law and even less for it's officers. Coruption is everywhere. Those involved with law enforcement today are percieved to be poorly trained, rude, abusive, and in general bad people. I see parents raising children to stay away from the police. Nationally we have a campaign that advises we all 'stop snitchin'.

Though I've not personally had any issues with cops, I know plenty of good hard working people who have. I'd trust them over a cop everyday.

Bottom line.....stay away from the police, don't contribute to any FOP programs or organizations, don't speak to them and for Gods sake, STOP SNITCHIN.

By posting this on the politics blog, are you insinuating that this disciplinary action has something to do with politics?

Why did the article say a demotion to police officer was a reduction in pay? Kimball Perry, you are in the courthouse all the time, and everyone knows the overtime $$$ officers get for going to court allows them to earn MUCH more than supervising sergeants! Try $80k and more.

Streicher tried to let 'em off easy, got caught, and changed course.

Now the idiots on the editorial staff praise him! Guess they don't mind giving the cold shoulder to reporters, either.

I agreee with a previous comment, Why is walking a beat a punishment? What is really happening by making officer's walk a beat is the rest of the police in vehicles have to take more runs and the city runs short police. So who is really getting punished the ones walking or the rest of the police that have to pick up the slack.
