Yates vs. Ahmadinejad

Press release from Rep. Tyrone Yates:

COLUMBUS - State Representative Tyrone K. Yates (D-Cincinnati) will soon introduce a concurrent resolution condemning the comments made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in his recent visit to the United States.

President Ahmadinejad, in his public statements at Columbia University and at the United Nations in New York, repeated inflammatory comments made in the past concerning the United States, the nation of Israel and the Jewish Holocaust of World War II, as well as a number of other offensive claims. He has been quoted as saying that “Israel must be wiped off the map,” and he has refused to acknowledge the suffering undergone by millions of Jews during the Holocaust perpetrated by the German Nazi regime.

“Tact and respect for differing opinions are necessary elements of international diplomacy, but President Ahmadinejad has gone too far, abusing our trust and hospitality,” said Rep. Yates. “I hope my colleagues will join me in proclaiming our disapproval of President Ahmadinejad’s remarks.”

Copies of the resolution will be submitted to President Bush, the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, the United Nations and the Iranian ambassador, among others.

Yates is right, but I have no idea why State goverment wastes time on this creep. Dubya should hire Blackwater to shove a shoe bomb down his pie-hole.

Who at the Enquirer is going to bring up the CQ Politics article about Jean Schmidt's uphill battle?

It is hardly a surprise that serious challengers have emerged for both the 2008 Republican primary and the general elections in this district. Schmidt’s strongly conservative politics come with a bit of a hard-edged tone that a number of voters in both parties seem to find off-putting. Although the generally conservative nature of this southern Ohio electorate is reflected in Bush’s landslide numbers there in 2004, Schmidt just narrowly defeated both Republican and Democratic rivals in a 2005 special election and the regularly scheduled 2006 election.

If you take out what he says about Jews and gays, he sounds no different than Dennis Kucinich, so what's the big deal?

Usefullidiot, just remember that by your comment "Dubya should hire Blackwater to shove a shoe bomb down his pie-hole" that you are endorsing 'terrorism'. The exact same thing that makes you so angry about what our government claims about Ahmadinejad.

So that would make you no better than him right?

Ahmadinejad is a crazed religious zealot but much of the rest of the world feels the same way about George W. Bush.

Just remember that in 1953 under the approval of then president Dwight D. Eisenhower and under the supervision of Kermit "Kim" Roosevelt, Jr. the grandson of American president Theodore Roosevelt, they launched 'Operation Ajax" with with the help of our CIA and overthrew the democratically elected Iranian president Dr. Mohammad Mosaddeq. Mosaddeq had been elected because he promised democratic reform for the people of Iran. But Mosaddeq decided to nationalize the petroleum industry of Iran. This was previously controlled by BP (British Petroleum). Between the U.S. and British government this was intolerable so Mosaddeq was overthrown by a CIA backed coup and sent into exile. The other members of Mosaddeq's cabinet were killed.

After that the U.S. installed the U.S./British controlled 'puppet dictator" Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi or "The Shaw of Iran". In the ensuing years the Shaw and his vicious SAVAK (the military police) tortured, imprisoned and assasinated all those Iranians who opposed the Shaw dictatorial regime. This lasted under the Iranian revolution of 1979.

So in the eyes of the Iranian people the U.S. and Britain were the powers behind this murderous regime. These people don't forget this. Just take that into consideration when you hear anti-american rhetoric coming from the iranian government and people.

Just food for though my friend.

Great way for Yates to again waste time with this, and well isn't he a bit late on this one to have any real impact..oh wait, it didn't have any to begin with. Maybe Rep. Yates should focus on improving the lives of Ohioans...can't remember the last time I seen Mr. Yates and he lives in my neighborhood and is supposedly my Representative in Columbus. Maybe it is time for a change.

Cincy 911, I don’t think my statement would come close to equating the “hit” of a rogue dictator and the destruction of Israel , and the “Jewish controlled puppet masters, The great Satan (U.S.)” The only difference between Ahmadinejad, and Hitler is that Ahmadinejad comes right out in his speeches and tells the world he is ready to pull the Nuclear trigger where Hitler only needed the 400 submarines to guard Brimmerhaven.

Shall we send Condi Rice to Tehran only to sit in Ahmadinejad’s outer office for 4 hrs? Waiting for “dialog” like Chamberlain and Lord Halifax did at Berchersgarten?

I don’t think so.

Remember when Anglican Church envoy Terry Wait went to Beirut for “dialog” and the seven years he spent as a captive of militant Islamists? I do.

Remember Col. Higgins? I do.

Jimmy Carter, the carpenter from Planes opened up this whole box, when he kicked the Shah to the curb and opened the door for militant Islam, remember that?

I do have issues with the President, but foreign policy in the mid east is not one of them. The way he has tried to micro-manage the war from Washington is.

Your example of the United States involved in the coup of the Iranian Prime Minister for BP, is no different than if you bought a farm in KY, and the director of the Kentucky Horse Park wanted it for the “people of Kentucky” invoked eminent domain, and told you to drop dead.

As we all know, President Ford signed executive order forbidding the assassination of foreign heads of state, or it would have been much easier getting rid of Saddam. Assasinating Ahmadinejad would not be a reality.

As always, my best to you.
